Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Volkswagen Corrado
The Corrado has a specific problem at the parts counter. There were three engines in the range, the G60 supercharged 1.8, the 16V, and the 2.8 VR6, and the bracket geometry differs between them. Tarox list the Corrado three ways: a generic listing for G60 and 16V owners, and two VR6-specific kits at different disc sizes. HiSpec make one kit for the whole car and it is built specifically for the G60. On this car, the engine is the first question.
This page runs through all six eligible kits, matched to the engine family each was built for. The full Corrado range is on the site if you want to browse it raw. Both manufacturers are represented: Tarox in northern Italy and HiSpec Motorsport in Dartford.
- Six eligible kits: one HiSpec for the G60, five Tarox covering G60/16V and the 2.8 VR6 separately
- Wheel sizes from 16 inch to 17 inch depending on the kit and engine
- Every Tarox kit arrives with Corsa pads and braided hoses fitted; HiSpec prices both separately
- One price quirk in the VR6 range: the 305mm kit lists above the 318mm, flagged below

Two manufacturers, two ways of building a kit
Both machine their own calipers from billet aluminium and build every kit for the specific car. The difference is in what comes in the box and where the kit is made.
Tarox
Made at the factory in northern Italy. Calipers are CNC machined from European billet alloy, hand assembled and individually tested. Discs are heat treated and hand balanced to 0.05mm. Every Sport kit arrives complete: Corsa pads pre-fitted, vehicle-specific braided hoses, mounting brackets and all fitting hardware. ABS and ESP compatible.
HiSpec Motorsport
Made in Dartford from 6082 T6 billet aluminium, every caliper made to order in up to 28 working days. Finished in black, red, blue, gold or silver. Pads and braided hoses are priced separately, so you pick the compound to match how the car is used.

Minimum wheel sizes
Every kit on this page clears a specific wheel diameter, and the figures below are confirmed from the manufacturers’ own listings and the tarox.co.uk published data. Depth inside the wheel, from spoke face to disc face, is what Cameron checks for each specific wheel, because two wheels of the same diameter can be very different behind the spokes.
| Kit | Disc | Engine | Smallest wheel |
|---|---|---|---|
| HiSpec 310mm Billet 4 | 310 x 28mm | G60 | 16 inch |
| Tarox 300mm Sport | 300mm | G60 / 16V | 16 inch |
| Tarox 305mm Sport | 305mm | VR6 | 16 inch |
| Tarox 318mm Sport | 318mm | G60 / 16V | 17 inch |
| Tarox 318mm Sport | 318mm | VR6 | 17 inch |
| Tarox 330mm Sport | 330mm | All variants | 17 inch |
HiSpec 310mm Billet 4: the G60 kit
This is the only kit HiSpec make for the Corrado, and it is built specifically for the G60. A four piston Billet 4 caliper paired with a 310mm two piece floating disc, designed to clear 16 inch wheels. The Billet 4 is HiSpec’s most popular caliper, machined from 6082 T6 billet aluminium with external boots to keep road grime out of the seals.
VR6 owners are not covered by HiSpec on this car. If you have a VR6, the Tarox options below are where the guide goes from here.
- £1,254.77 inc VAT
- G60 specific
- Clears 16 inch wheels
- 310 x 28mm two piece floating disc
- Pads and braided hoses priced separately; five caliper colours, up to 28 working days
Tarox 300mm 6 pot Sport: Tarox entry for G60 and 16V owners
For a G60 or 16V Corrado on 16 inch wheels, this is the complete Tarox kit. The Sport is the foundation of the Tarox road range: B32 six piston billet calipers, a 300mm two piece floating disc balanced to 0.05mm, plus braided hoses and Corsa pads already fitted. Everything in one box, including fitting hardware.
Listed under the generic ‘Volkswagen Corrado’ designation, so it covers the G60 and the 16V. VR6 owners have their own listings below.
- £1,989.79 inc VAT, complete
- Suits G60 and 16V
- Clears 16 inch wheels
- B32 six piston billet calipers, hand assembled in Italy
- Corsa pads and braided hoses in the box; ABS and ESP compatible
Tarox 305mm 6 pot Sport: the VR6 kit on 16 inch wheels
If you have the 2.8 VR6 and the car has to stay on 16 inch wheels, this is the kit. Same B32 six piston Sport spec as the 300mm above, built on VR6-specific brackets with all hardware included.
One thing worth knowing on price. This 305mm VR6 kit is £2,078.89, which is £28.89 more than the 318mm VR6 kit at £2,050.00, despite being a smaller disc. The bracket geometry for the 16 inch fitment differs from the 17 inch version. If the car can run 17 inch wheels, the 318mm gives a bigger disc for less money. The 305mm is the call only when 16 inch is a hard constraint.
- £2,078.89 inc VAT, complete
- VR6 specific
- Clears 16 inch wheels
- 305mm two piece floating disc, B32 six piston
- Costs £28.89 more than the 318mm VR6 kit: only worth it when 16 inch is the limit
Tarox 318mm 6 pot Sport: the 17 inch option for all engines
This is where both engine families get a 17 inch option at the same price. Tarox list the 318mm separately for the generic Corrado (G60 and 16V) and the 2.8 VR6, identical spec and identical price, £2,050.00 each. Both are shown in the widget.
For a VR6 owner who can run 17 inch wheels, this is the stronger choice over the 305mm: a bigger disc for less money. The same logic applies to a G60 or 16V that is already on 17s and wants a proper Tarox kit without going all the way to 330mm.
- £2,050.00 inc VAT each, complete
- Two listings: G60/16V and VR6
- Clears 17 inch wheels
- 318mm two piece floating disc, B32 six piston
- Corsa pads and braided hoses in the box; pick the listing that matches your engine
Tarox 330mm 6 pot Sport: the largest kit on the car
The top of what Tarox list for the Corrado. Same B32 six piston Sport package as the rest of the range, one box with Corsa pads and braided hoses, listed under the generic Volkswagen Corrado designation and needs 17 inch wheels.
Garreth’s view: the Corrado is not a particularly heavy car and most road and track day builds are well served by the 300mm or 318mm. The 330mm makes sense on a modified car carrying real power, or on a build that is moving to 17 inch wheels anyway and wants the biggest kit the car will take while the wheels are going on.
- £2,280.00 inc VAT, complete
- Clears 17 inch wheels
- 330mm two piece floating disc, B32 six piston
- Corsa pads and braided hoses in the box
- Black, red, blue, green or gold caliper finish
What is actually in each box
The headline price gap between HiSpec and Tarox narrows once you have added pads and braided hoses to the HiSpec kit. HiSpec price both separately so you choose the compound; Tarox include them already fitted. Compare the finished build, not the headline number.

Common questions
Does HiSpec make kits for the VR6?
No. HiSpec's one Corrado listing is built specifically for the G60. VR6 owners are covered by Tarox, which lists the VR6 separately at 305mm (for 16 inch wheels) and 318mm (for 17 inch wheels).
Why does the 305mm VR6 kit cost more than the 318mm?
The bracket geometry for the 16 inch application differs from the 17 inch version, and Tarox price them separately. If the car can run 17 inch wheels, the 318mm gives more disc for less money and that is usually the better call. The 305mm is worth ordering only when 16 inch is a firm limit.
Which Tarox listing do I order for my engine?
Use the generic 'Volkswagen Corrado' listing for the G60 and 16V. Use the '2.8 VR6' listing for the VR6. At 318mm there are two separate listings at the same price, one per engine family. If you are not certain which applies, ring us and we will confirm with Tarox before anything is ordered.
How long before it arrives?
HiSpec kits are made to order in Dartford, allow up to 28 working days. Tarox kits come from the factory in Italy and lead times vary through the year. Ask when you order and we will give you the current picture.
Will the kit work with my ABS and ESP?
Tarox state full compatibility with ABS and ESP on every kit. For HiSpec, tell us the exact car and spec when you order and we will confirm the details with HiSpec before anything is built.
What we would actually fit
On a G60 keeping its 16 inch wheels, the HiSpec 310mm Billet 4 is the natural start and the only HiSpec option on the car. For a G60 or 16V owner who wants a complete one-box Tarox kit on 16 inch wheels, Garreth’s call is the 300mm Sport. On a VR6, skip the 305mm unless the car is staying on 16s permanently: the 318mm gives a bigger disc for less money, and that is about as straightforward a recommendation as this series produces.
For any Corrado already on 17 inch wheels, the 318mm is the obvious move for either engine, and the 330mm makes sense on a modified car pushing serious power or a build going all the way. If you are stuck between two of these, ring us on 0115 9893488. Cameron handles the wheel clearance side and Garreth will talk through the build. Have your wheel spec and engine to hand and you will usually have an answer in about five minutes.
