Showroom and services

Brake kits that look similar on screen can differ sharply in caliper depth, disc size and finish. Book an appointment and we will work through the fitment with your car and wheel details in front of us.

What you can do here

Mostly: settle the questions that are slow and awkward over email.

1

Hold the kits

A 330mm disc and a 360mm disc are two numbers on a page and two very different objects in your hands. The same goes for a four piston caliper next to a six. Ten minutes here saves a fortnight of second guessing.

2

Check wheel clearance properly

Bring a wheel and we will offer the caliper up to it. This is the single most common reason a brake kit goes back, and it is completely avoidable. If you are planning new wheels too, bring those measurements.

3

Work out what your car needs

Road, fast road, track day or competition changes the answer more than anything else. We would rather talk you down to a smaller kit that suits the car than sell you the biggest one on the shelf.

4

Sort the awkward builds

Kit cars, classics and one offs are welcome and genuinely interesting. Bring measurements and photographs of the upright and hub, and we will work out what can be done, including bespoke discs.

03 / Fitment

Getting fitment right before you buy

Three things settle nearly every brake enquiry.

The car. Make, model, year and engine. Brake fitment often changes partway through a generation, so the year matters more than people expect.

The wheels. Diameter at minimum, and the make and model if you know them, because two 18 inch wheels can have very different internal shapes. Bring one if you are coming in.

The use. Road, fast road, track day or competition. This changes the recommendation more than any other single fact, and it is the one people skip.

Send those three ahead of your appointment and we will have a shortlist waiting rather than starting from scratch when you arrive.

We supply, we do not fit

We are a supplier rather than a fitting garage, so brakes are not fitted here. What we will do is tell you exactly what the job involves, what else you will need, and what to warn your fitter about.

Tell the fitter to check the fluid as part of the job. A kit that lets you brake harder for longer will find the limit of old fluid quickly.

04 / Visiting

Visiting us

GSM Performance
Unit 5 and 6, High Hazles Road
Nottingham, NG12 3GZ

By appointment, Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm. Book at calendly.com/gsm-performance or ring 0115 9893488.

There is parking on site. We have been running the showroom since 2012, and it covers 2,500 square feet across the brake and seat displays.

Why appointment only?

Because this is a specialist business and most visits involve working through fitment on a particular car. Booking a slot means somebody is free to do that with you properly, rather than splitting their attention across a shop floor.

It also means we can have your shortlist ready before you arrive, if you send the car and wheel details when you book.

05 / Questions

Common questions

Do I need an appointment?â–¾

Yes. The showroom runs by appointment, Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm. Book at calendly.com/gsm-performance or ring 0115 9893488. We will set aside time to work through the car and wheel details.

What can you settle while I am there?â–¾

Wheel clearance, kit choice, and whether what you have in mind will physically fit. Bring a wheel if you can, because holding a caliper inside your own wheel answers in ten seconds what a specification sheet argues about for a week.

Can I see kits from different brands side by side?â–¾

Yes, and it is the main reason to come. Hi Spec, Brembo GT, TAROX and the rest look very different in the metal from how they look in a photograph, and the size difference between tiers is much easier to judge in your hands.

Do you fit brakes?â–¾

We are a supplier rather than a fitting garage, so we do not fit brakes ourselves. We will tell you exactly what is needed and what the job involves, and we work with people who do this every week.

Do you stock seats and harnesses too?â–¾

Yes, though they live on our sister site. The showroom carries over 125 seats, so you can check the driving position and brake hardware in the same appointment.

Where are you?â–¾

Unit 5 and 6, High Hazles Road, Nottingham, NG12 3GZ. It is a 2,500 square foot showroom and there is parking on site.

Can you help with kit cars and one off builds?â–¾

Yes, and they are some of the more interesting jobs. Bespoke discs and unusual bracketry are a normal conversation here. Bring your measurements and photographs of the upright and hub if you have them.

What should I bring?â–¾

The car if you can, a wheel if you cannot, and the make, model, year and engine. Photographs of the current setup help more than you would think, particularly on anything already modified.
