Does The Hi Spec 315mm R132-4 Kit Fit A 2007 Honda Civic Type S?
A customer asked whether the Hi Spec 315mm R132-4 kit, with 4 pot calipers and grooved discs, suits a 2007 Honda Civic Type S for fast road use, and what wheel it needs. The listing says it fits the Honda Civic and is designed to clear 16 inch wheels. It names no generation, and it is written as a race kit, so we check the car and the wheels before anyone orders.

The listing says it fits the Honda Civic. It gives no generation or year, so the V5 and the wheel decide.
- Listed for the Honda Civic, with no chassis code or model year on the listing
- Designed to clear 16 inch wheels, plus a 60mm check at the spokes
- Written as a race and rally kit, so fast road use is something to talk through with us
- Calipers, grooved two piece discs, bells, brackets and hardware only, so pads are extra
Does the R132-4 fit a 2007 Civic Type S?
The listing for the Hi Spec Honda Civic 315mm R132-4 Conversion kit says it will fit your Honda Civic. That’s the whole fitment statement. There’s no chassis code, no model year and no trim, so the Type S is never named, and we’re not going to call it a match on that alone.
So we need the year and the V5. Send us the registration. Cameron checks the car against the kit and gives you a straight yes or no before you pay.
Wheel clearance: 16 inch to start, then the 60mm check
The listing says the kit is designed to clear 16 inch wheels, and that figure is about the kit itself. It also says Hi Spec calipers are wider than a standard sliding caliper, so fitment can’t be guaranteed for every wheel on the market.
Diameter is only the first check, because two wheels of the same size can sit very differently behind the spokes and the caliper sits in that gap.
16 inch is the floor
The listing gives 16 inch as the size the kit is designed to clear. A smaller wheel is a no.
60mm is the test
Check you have 60mm from the face of your existing disc to the back of your spokes. That is the maker's own check, taken straight from the listing.
Tell us the wheel
Give us the make and model of the wheel as well as the size. Cameron checks it against the kit, which is quicker than you pulling a wheel off on a cold evening.
If you’d rather not get the rule out, drop us an email or click to open a chat with the wheel make, model and size, and we’ll come back to you.
Is it suitable for fast road use?
Read the listing and the R132-4 is a race caliper. It calls the caliper a racing version of Hi Spec’s Monster 4, with high temperature square cut seals suited to racing, an extremely large pad area and “ideal for race and rally use”. It says nothing about road driving, so we won’t claim it either way for you.
Hi Spec’s road caliper is the Billet 4. Our guide to choosing a Hi Spec kit describes it as the entry caliper, aimed at road use and fast road driving. For a Type S that spends its life on the road, Garreth’s tip is to start there. If the car also does the odd track day, that’s where the R132-4 starts to make sense.
The Hi Spec 315mm R132-4 at a glance
This is a two piece racing kit for the front axle. The discs are 315mm, 32mm thick and grooved, mounted on aluminium bells. The calipers are R132-4 four piston units, machined from billet aluminium, and they come in black.
The listing calls out an internal fluid crossover, so there is no external pipe between the two halves of the caliper. At £1,099.50 it is the cheapest of the four kits on this page. Check the product page for the colour options and for timings.

The Hi Spec R132-6 at 315mm has the same 16 inch figure and the same 60mm check, and costs £150.00 more for six pistons. The Hi Spec 310mm Billet 4 is £499.50 above the R132-4, and its listing says the kit includes EBC standard road pads and DOT 5.1 brake fluid, with braided hoses optional. That listing also says it is for small to medium weight road cars. Add pads to the R132-4 and the gap to the Billet 4 is smaller than the sticker says.
The Tarox kit is listed by chassis code as the Civic FN1, and costs £945.50 more than the R132-4. It has six pistons, and the listing says the kit includes braided hoses and Corsa pads already fitted. Tarox say it often fits behind original wheels, and the listing gives no minimum wheel size. Whether FN1 is your car is a V5 question for Cameron.
Common questions
Does the Hi Spec 315mm R132-4 fit a 2007 Honda Civic Type S?
The listing says it will fit your Honda Civic. It gives no generation or year. Send us the registration and Cameron confirms it against your car before you order.
What wheel size does it need?
The listing says it is designed to clear 16 inch wheels, and it also says to check for 60mm of clearance from the face of your existing disc to the back of your spokes, because Hi Spec calipers are wider than a standard sliding caliper.
Is it suitable for fast road use?
The listing describes it as a race and rally caliper. It does not mention road use. Hi Spec’s road focused caliper is the Billet 4, which is where we would look first for a car that mostly lives on the road.
Are pads included in the kit?
No, the contents list is calipers, grooved rotors, aluminium bells, bracket sets and a hardware pack, so tell us how the car is used and we will recommend a compound.
Are the discs grooved?
Yes, the listing says grooved rotors, two piece on aluminium bells, and 32mm thick.
What if my wheels fail the 60mm check?
Changing to the Billet 4 does not remove the question, because its listing carries the same warning about caliper width. Send us the wheel make, model and size. We will tell you which kit, if any, clears.
What we would buy
Garreth
Garreth's top tip
For a Type S that's mostly a road car, I'd look at the 310mm Billet 4 at £1,599.00 before the R132-4. It's the caliper Hi Spec aim at fast road driving, and the listing has road pads and brake fluid in the kit.
The R132-4 at £1,099.50 is the cheaper number, but you add pads on top of it, and it is written for the circuit.
Cameron
Cameron's fitting view
Before the kit, I want the wheel. Send me the make, the model and the size, and the 60mm figure, and I will tell you if either Hi Spec kit clears.
If the Type S sees circuit days as well, the R132-4 is the one I'd fit, because the discs are 32mm thick and the pad area is large. If it never leaves the road, Garreth's Billet 4 is the right call.
Not sure it clears your wheels?
Tell us the car, the year and the make and model of your wheels. Cally, our digital receptionist, will take your details, and Cameron will come back to you on fitment before you order.
