Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Skoda Octavia MK2

Cameron put this page together from the Tarox Octavia MK2 catalogue. Before you look at disc sizes or prices, settle the wheel question: none of these kits fits behind 16-inch or smaller wheels. The two kits where we have confirmed wheel minimums both need 17 inch. The 360mm at the top of the range needs 18 inch. The 312mm and 330mm are ask-us, but the same range applies. If your MK2 is still on standard alloys, confirm the size before you order.

Three of the five kits (330mm, 345mm and 360mm) carry “10pot” in their product titles. That is the old B34 caliper designation. The current hardware in those kits is an 8-piston sequential B34GT unit, as the product descriptions confirm. The title piston count is wrong on all three; we cover the actual spec in each section.

There is also a price inversion across two pairs of kits. The 330mm at £2,365.30 inc VAT costs £175.30 more than the larger 345mm at £2,190.00. The 312mm at £2,010.00 costs £9.11 more than the 320mm. Both are flagged in their sections. HiSpec and Brembo do not currently list a kit for the Octavia MK2. The full MK2 range is on the site.

  • Five Tarox kits for the Octavia MK2: 312mm, 320mm, 330mm, 345mm and 360mm
  • Confirmed wheel minimums: 320mm and 345mm need 17 inch, 360mm needs 18 inch, 312mm and 330mm are ask-us
  • 330mm, 345mm and 360mm use the 8-piston B34GT sequential caliper, not 10-piston as titled
  • All kits include Corsa pads pre-installed and vehicle-specific braided hoses
  • HiSpec and Brembo do not list big brake kits for the Octavia MK2

The Skoda Octavia MK2 (2004 to 2013). Every Tarox kit on this page needs at least 17-inch wheels; the 360mm steps up to 18.

Tarox on the Octavia MK2

Neither HiSpec Motorsport nor Brembo currently list a big brake kit for the Octavia MK2, so the whole range here is Tarox. Five kits from 312mm to 360mm, two distinct caliper families, and a price spread from £2,000.89 to £3,210.00 inc VAT.

Every kit arrives with vehicle-specific stainless steel braided hoses and Tarox Corsa pads already installed. Tarox state full compatibility with ABS and ESP.

UK

HiSpec and Brembo

Neither brand currently lists a big brake kit for the Octavia MK2. One Brembo kit in the site category is listed for the MK1 Scout 4x4 (1998-2004), not the MK2, so it is excluded here. If that changes we will update this page.

The range splits into two caliper families. The 312mm and 320mm are both 6-piston kits. The 330mm, 345mm and 360mm all use the B34GT, which runs 8 pistons sized sequentially from the leading edge to the trailing edge of the caliper. The sequential sizing gives even pad contact across the face as the disc heats and expands. All three carry “10pot” in their product titles, which is an older B34 designation that is no longer accurate for the current parts.

The wheel size each kit needs

The two 6-piston kits and the 345mm 8-piston all confirm a 17-inch minimum. The 360mm steps up to 18 inch. The 312mm and 330mm have no confirmed figure in the lookup table, so we carry those as ask-us. Ring Cameron before ordering if you are on either of those two disc sizes.

Spoke clearance is Cameron's checkA 17 or 18-inch wheel passes the diameter test, but if the spokes sit close to the disc face you can still get a foul. Tell Cameron the make, model and offset of your wheels and he will confirm clearance before anything is ordered. That check takes five minutes. Ring on 0115 647 8650.

Tarox 312mm 6-piston: the entry kit with the wheel caveat

The smallest kit in the MK2 range and the one with no confirmed wheel minimum in the lookup table. If you are considering this kit, ring Cameron first and give him your wheel make, model and offset, and he will confirm whether it clears before anything is ordered.

One pricing note: the 312mm at £2,010.00 inc VAT is £9.11 more expensive than the 320mm below it in the range. The size difference is 8mm of disc diameter. For most MK2 owners on 17-inch alloys, the 320mm is the better starting point: it has a confirmed wheel size and costs slightly less. The 312mm is the answer if wheel clearance on your specific alloys is tighter at the slightly smaller disc diameter, or if you have been told the 312mm is the confirmed fit.

  • £2,010.00 inc VAT
  • Wheel minimum: check with us before ordering
  • 312mm disc
  • 6-piston caliper
  • MK2 listing only
  • Corsa pads and braided hoses included and fitted

Tarox 320mm 6-piston: the confirmed 17-inch entry

This is the cheapest kit on the page at £2,000.89 inc VAT and the one with the confirmed 17-inch wheel minimum. The 6-piston caliper and 320mm disc give a meaningful upgrade over the standard setup, and the 17-inch figure is confirmed in the lookup table rather than being ask-us.

It also costs £9.11 less than the 312mm above it in the range, despite being the larger disc. For a MK2 on 17-inch alloys where the goal is a reliable upgrade with a confirmed wheel size, this is the natural starting point. The step up to the B34GT caliper family begins at the 330mm.

  • £2,000.89 inc VAT
  • Clears 17-inch wheels (confirmed)
  • 320mm disc
  • 6-piston caliper
  • MK2 listing only
  • Corsa pads and braided hoses included and fitted

Tarox 330mm 8-piston: the B34GT entry with a price quirk

This is the first kit in the range to use the B34GT 8-piston sequential caliper. Despite what the product title says, it is not a 10-piston unit. The B34GT runs pistons that increase in diameter from the leading to the trailing edge of the caliper, which gives even pad contact as the disc heats and expands. The product description confirms the 8-piston B34GT; the title carries the older designation.

Two practical points. First, the wheel minimum is ask-us, the same as the 312mm. Ring Cameron before ordering to confirm it works with your alloys. Second, and more importantly: the 330mm at £2,365.30 inc VAT costs £175.30 more than the 345mm kit directly above it in the range. The 345mm is a bigger disc, the same B34GT caliper, a confirmed 17-inch wheel size, and is £175.30 cheaper. If your car is already on 17-inch wheels, the 345mm is a better buy than the 330mm for almost every owner. The 330mm makes sense only if spoke clearance at the 345mm disc diameter is the issue on your specific alloys.

  • £2,365.30 inc VAT
  • Wheel minimum: check with us before ordering
  • 330mm disc
  • B34GT 8-piston sequential caliper (listed as 10pot)
  • MK2 listing only
  • Corsa pads and braided hoses included and fitted

Tarox 345mm 8-piston: the better buy at 17 inch

The 345mm is the pick Garreth would point most MK2 owners at for a track-day car. Same B34GT 8-piston sequential caliper as the 330mm and 360mm. The 17-inch wheel minimum is confirmed. And it is £175.30 cheaper than the 330mm despite being the larger disc.

For a MK2 used on circuit days, the 345mm disc gives useful thermal mass under repeated braking without requiring a step up to 18-inch wheels. The 345mm and 320mm share the same 17-inch minimum, so if you decide to go larger later the wheel requirement does not change between those two. As with all three B34GT kits, the product title says 10pot; the actual piston count is 8, and the product description confirms it.

  • £2,190.00 inc VAT
  • Clears 17-inch wheels (confirmed)
  • 345mm disc
  • B34GT 8-piston sequential caliper (listed as 10pot)
  • MK2 listing only
  • Corsa pads and braided hoses included and fitted

Tarox 360mm 8-piston: the top of the range

The largest kit in the MK2 range and the only one that needs 18-inch wheels. The B34GT 8-piston sequential caliper is the same unit as the 330mm and 345mm. The bigger swept area gives more thermal capacity under hard repeated braking, which is where the extra disc diameter earns its cost. At £3,210.00 inc VAT, it is £1,020 more than the 345mm.

As with the 330mm and 345mm, the product title calls it 10pot. The current hardware is the B34GT at 8 pistons, confirmed in the product description. The 360mm is for a MK2 that has been modified for power, or one that does regular circuit sessions where the extra thermal capacity matters. Check the 18-inch wheel requirement first: it is the only kit on this page that needs it.

  • £3,210.00 inc VAT
  • Needs 18-inch wheels (confirmed)
  • 360mm disc
  • B34GT 8-piston sequential caliper (listed as 10pot)
  • MK2 listing only
  • Corsa pads and braided hoses included and fitted

Common questions

Why does the 312mm cost more than the 320mm?

Both are 6-piston kits for the Octavia MK2. The 8mm difference in disc diameter sits them in different pricing tiers in the Tarox catalogue, which puts the smaller kit at a slightly higher price (£2,010.00 versus £2,000.89). If your alloys clear the 320mm disc, that is the more straightforward buy. Ring Cameron on 0115 647 8650 if you are unsure.

Why does the 330mm cost more than the 345mm?

The 330mm at £2,365.30 and the 345mm at £2,190.00 are both B34GT 8-piston kits, but they sit in different pricing tiers in the Tarox catalogue. The result is that the smaller kit is £175.30 more expensive. For a car already on 17-inch wheels, the 345mm is the better buy: it is a larger disc, the same caliper, a confirmed wheel size, and it costs less.

Do these kits really have 10 pistons?

No. The 330mm, 345mm and 360mm product titles carry the old B34 designation, which used 10 pistons. The current hardware in all three kits is the B34GT, which runs 8 pistons sized sequentially from the leading to the trailing edge of the caliper. The product descriptions confirm the 8-piston B34GT. The sequential sizing gives more even pad contact as the disc heats and expands under braking.

Do the 312mm and 330mm need 17-inch wheels?

We do not have a confirmed figure for those two. The 320mm and 345mm both confirm 17 inch minimum. The 360mm confirms 18 inch. The 312mm and 330mm are ask-us: ring Cameron on 0115 647 8650 with your wheel make, model and offset and he will tell you whether they clear before anything is ordered.

Will these kits work with ABS and ESP?

Tarox state full compatibility with ABS and ESP on all kits listed here. For a modified MK2 or an unusual wheel and tyre setup, tell Cameron the details when you call and we will confirm with Tarox before anything is ordered.

Is there a Brembo kit for the Octavia MK2?

There is a Brembo kit listed in this category, but it is for the Octavia MK1 (Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDi Scout 4x4, 1998-2004), not the MK2. It has been excluded from this page. If Brembo release a kit for the MK2 we will add it.

How long before a kit arrives?

Tarox kits are built to order at the factory in Italy. Lead times vary through the year; ask when you call on 0115 647 8650 and we will give you the current picture from Tarox before you commit.

What we would actually fit

On a MK2 on 17-inch wheels, the 345mm. It is a confirmed 17-inch kit, the B34GT 8-piston sequential caliper, and it is £175.30 cheaper than the 330mm below it in the range. For a fast road car with no track use, the 320mm is the sensible entry: confirmed wheel size, cheapest kit, and a real step up from the standard setup. The 312mm only makes sense if your specific alloys are confirmed to clear that disc size and not the 320mm.

For a MK2 that does circuit sessions, Garreth would go straight to the 345mm. The bigger swept area handles heat better under repeated braking and the wheel requirement is the same as the 320mm, so moving to a larger disc later does not add a wheel change to the cost. The 360mm is there for an owner who wants the biggest available setup or has a MK2 with significant power or track mods, but check the 18-inch wheel requirement first.

If you are stuck between two kits, or if the wheel clearance on your specific alloys needs checking, call Cameron on 0115 647 8650. Give him the make, model and offset of your wheels and he will confirm before anything is ordered.
