Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Nissan 350Z
HiSpec don’t list for the 350Z. Most cars in this series have an HiSpec rung at the bottom of the ladder, but not this one. The guide starts at Tarox, and the entry Tarox 360mm at £3,210 comes in below the entry Brembo GT-A at £3,719. The price order is the reverse of what most readers expect on a car with a Brembo catalogue this size.
Five kits on this page: two Tarox and three Brembo. Both Tarox are complete 360mm front conversions, pads and braided hoses in the box. The Brembo range steps through GT-A, GT-M and GT-R at 355mm and 380mm, made to order in Italy at six to eight weeks. Brembo also list two rear conversions for the 350Z (GT-S and GT-R, both 345mm) and those are covered below. The full 350Z range is on the site.
- HiSpec do not list a front kit for the 350Z; this guide covers Tarox and Brembo only
- Tarox 360mm Super Sport (£3,210 inc VAT): 8-piston sequential B34GT caliper, complete kit with pads and hoses
- Tarox 360mm Grande Sport (£3,610 inc VAT): 12-piston B400/B40R caliper, minimum 19-inch wheel, complete kit
- Brembo GT front kits at 355mm and 380mm, from £3,719 to £8,906 inc VAT, six to eight weeks made to order

Tarox and Brembo on the Nissan 350Z
Two brands cover the 350Z in our range. Tarox build two dedicated 360mm front kits for the Z33. Brembo list a full range of GT Series front kits at 332mm, 355mm and 380mm, plus two rear conversions at 345mm. HiSpec do not currently carry a kit for this car, so there is no HiSpec entry rung here.
Tarox
Built at the Tarox factory in northern Italy. Billet aluminium calipers, CNC machined and hand assembled. Discs balanced to 0.05mm. The 350Z gets two dedicated front kits: Super Sport (360mm, B34GT 8-piston sequential) and Grande Sport (360mm, B400/B40R 12-piston). Both are complete kits. Pads pre-fitted, braided hoses included, caliper colour and disc style chosen at order. Tarox fitting guide and clearance template available on their site.
Brembo GT Series
Made to order at the Brembo factory in Italy. The 350Z has one of the wider Brembo GT catalogues in our range: five distinct front kits across three caliper families and three disc sizes, plus two rear kits. Caliper families in ascending order: GT-A (two-piece, four piston), GT-M (monobloc, six piston), GT-S (billet nickel, six piston), GT-R (billet hard anodised, six piston). Discs available cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted at the same price. Lead time is six to eight weeks from order.
One point on the Tarox Super Sport listing: the product title says “10 pot”. The caliper that ships is the B34GT, which runs eight sequential pistons. This is covered in the guide copy for that pick and in the FAQ below. The product description is accurate; the title was not updated when Tarox revised the caliper design.
Wheel clearance
The 350Z left the factory on 17-inch or 18-inch alloys depending on trim. Both Tarox 360mm kits require at least 18 inches. The Grande Sport (B400/B40R) requires 19 inches.
For Brembo, the clearance figures come from Brembo’s own caliper drawing on each product page, giving three dimensions: A (caliper height), B (depth from disc face to wheel mounting surface) and C (caliper width). Those are the numbers Cameron works from when checking a set of aftermarket wheels. Ring 0115 9893488 with the make, model and offset of your wheels and he will confirm fit before anything is ordered.
| Kit | Disc | Minimum wheel | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tarox Super Sport 360mm | 360 x 30mm | 18 inch | Often fits behind OEM 350Z alloys; Cameron checks spoke clearance depth before order |
| Tarox Grande Sport 360mm | 360 x 24mm | 19 inch | Requires aftermarket wheels on most 350Z builds |
| Brembo GT-A 355mm | 355 x 32mm | See drawing | Caliper clearance PDF on the product page (A, B, C dimensions) |
| Brembo GT-M 355mm | 355 x 32mm | See drawing | Caliper clearance PDF on the product page; GT-M has larger caliper body than GT-A at same disc size |
| Brembo GT-R 380mm | 380 x 32mm | See drawing | Caliper clearance PDF on the product page; GT-R drawing differs from GT-S at same disc size |
Tarox Super Sport 360mm: the entry complete kit
The Tarox Super Sport is the entry point on this page, and at £3,210 inc VAT it comes in below the entry Brembo GT-A. The listing title says “10 pot”. The caliper is the B34GT, eight sequential pistons. Tarox revised the design and did not update the catalogue title. The kit that arrives is eight pistons, sized sequentially for even pad contact across the face. Tarox’s own description confirms the caliper and piston count.
Disc is 360 x 30mm two-piece floating, billet steel rotor on an anodised alloy bell, balanced to 0.05mm. The description notes it often fits behind standard 350Z wheels. Garreth would still have Cameron check the spoke depth before ordering, because the clearance varies by wheel offset. Pads are pre-fitted Tarox Corsa. Braided hoses and all fitting hardware are in the box.
Available in Black, Red, Blue, Green or Gold caliper finish. Disc styles: F2000, Sport Japan, C83 or D95. Lead time from the Tarox factory in Italy is typically a few weeks.
- £3,210 inc VAT
- Nissan 350Z (Z33) 2003 to 2008, front axle
- 360 x 30mm two-piece floating disc
- B34GT 8-piston sequential billet caliper (title says 10 pot; caliper is 8-piston)
- Tarox Corsa pads pre-fitted; stainless hoses included
- Caliper: Black, Red, Blue, Green or Gold
Tarox Grande Sport 360mm: twelve pistons, 19-inch wheels required
The Grande Sport steps up to a B400/B40R 12-piston caliper at the same 360mm disc diameter. The rotor is 360 x 24mm, which is thinner than the Super Sport’s 30mm, and the caliper is wider to house the extra pistons. The clearance envelope is different from the Super Sport despite the same disc diameter. This kit requires a minimum 19-inch wheel, which means standard 350Z alloys will not clear it.
Tarox describe the Grande Sport as suited to high-powered sports cars and performance builds. At £3,610 inc VAT it costs £400 more than the Super Sport and brings a meaningful step in caliper technology. Pads are pre-fitted Tarox Corsa. Braided hoses and all fitting hardware are in the box.
Caliper finish: Black, Red, Blue, Green or Gold. Disc styles: F2000, Sport Japan, C83 or D95.
- £3,610 inc VAT
- Nissan 350Z (Z33) 2003 to 2008, front axle
- 360 x 24mm two-piece floating disc
- B400/B40R 12-piston billet caliper
- Minimum 19-inch wheel (aftermarket required on most 350Z builds)
- Tarox Corsa pads pre-fitted; stainless hoses included
Brembo GT-A 355mm: the entry Brembo, two-piece four piston
The GT-A is Brembo’s two-piece caliper design, derived from their original equipment production work. The caliper body and bracket are separate alloy castings bolted together, making it the most straightforward of the GT calipers to install. It is also the starting point for the Brembo range on this car: at £3,719.68 inc VAT it costs £109.68 more than the Tarox Grande Sport.
Disc is 355 x 32mm two-piece. Four piston. Brembo also list a GT-A at 332mm for the 350Z at the same price. The 355mm disc at identical cost is the better value of the two; there is no reason to go with the smaller disc at that price point. Cameron checks caliper clearance before every order on 0115 9893488.
Disc face is cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted at the same price. Caliper colour is set by the part number last digit and costs nothing extra. Made to order in Italy, six to eight weeks from order to despatch.
- £3,719.68 inc VAT
- Nissan 350Z (Z33) 2003 to 2008, front axle
- 355 x 32mm two-piece disc
- GT-A two-piece caliper, 4 piston
- Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price
- Made to order: six to eight weeks from order
Brembo GT-M 355mm: monobloc six piston
The GT-M caliper is machined from a single piece of aluminium, which gives it a more rigid structure under hard braking. Brembo specify the GT-M for road cars that see regular track days. At £4,295.95 inc VAT, the GT-M costs £576.27 more than the GT-A at the same disc size. That gap pays for the move from two-piece to monobloc construction and from four to six pistons.
Disc is 355 x 32mm two-piece, the same size as the GT-A above. The step between these two picks is entirely in the caliper. Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc at the same price. Caliper colour at the last digit of the part number. Six to eight weeks made to order in Italy.
- £4,295.95 inc VAT
- Nissan 350Z (Z33) 2003 to 2008, front axle
- 355 x 32mm two-piece disc
- GT-M monobloc caliper, 6 piston
- Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price
- Made to order: six to eight weeks from order
Brembo GT-R 380mm: the flagship
The GT-R sits at the top of the Brembo GT range. The caliper is billet machined and hard anodised, with racing-style piston radiators and recessed dust seals. The Brembo logo is engraved and filled red, as on Brembo’s competition calipers. Six piston. Brembo also list the GT-R at 355mm on the 350Z at £8,329.97; the 380mm at £8,906.26 adds 25mm of swept area.
Between the GT-M at £4,295.95 and the GT-R at £8,906.26 sits the GT-S at 355mm (£4,400.74) and 380mm (£4,767.47). The GT-S is billet nickel finished; the GT-R is billet hard anodised with the engraved logo. Both the GT-S and the GT-M 380mm (£4,662.68) are in the comparison table below and available on the site. For most 350Z track builds, the conversation is GT-M or GT-S. The GT-R is for the build with no ceiling.
Made to order in Italy. Six to eight weeks from order to despatch.
- £8,906.26 inc VAT
- Nissan 350Z (Z33) 2003 to 2008, front axle
- 380 x 32mm two-piece disc
- GT-R billet caliper, hard anodised, 6 piston
- Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price
- Made to order: six to eight weeks from order
Rear brake options
Brembo list two rear kits for the 350Z, both 345 x 28mm two-piece disc. The GT-S uses a four-piston billet nickel caliper at £4,034.00 inc VAT. The GT-R uses a four-piston billet hard-anodised caliper at £7,439.34 inc VAT. Both are made to order in Italy at six to eight weeks.
Rear brake upgrades on most 350Z builds are a secondary consideration. The front does the heavy work. If you are building the car comprehensively with circuit days in mind, ring us on 0115 9893488 and Cameron will go through both axles with you before anything is ordered. If you are fitting a front kit now, a rear upgrade can follow later without any compatibility concern.

Prices correct as of September 2026 inc VAT. The GT-A is available at 332mm and 355mm at the same price; the 355mm is the better choice at that price point. For Brembo kits, “see drawing” means the caliper clearance PDF on the product page gives the relevant dimensions; Cameron checks those against your specific wheel before any order goes in on 0115 9893488.
Common questions
Will the Tarox Super Sport 360mm fit behind my standard 350Z wheels?
Often yes. The kit description says it often fits behind OEM 350Z alloys, which were 17 or 18 inches depending on trim. That said, "often" is not "always". The clearance depends on spoke depth and offset, and the 350Z wheel arch is not especially generous at the spoke line. Ring Cameron on 0115 9893488 with your wheel make, size and offset and he will check the fit before the order goes in. If it is marginal, he will tell you.
The Tarox listing says "10 pot". Is it actually ten pistons?
No. The current caliper is the B34GT, which runs eight pistons. They are sized sequentially so each piston bears progressively more load as you move towards the leading edge of the pad, giving more even wear across the face. Tarox revised the design from an older ten-piston unit but did not update the listing title. The description on the product page gives the correct piston count; the title has not been corrected. The kit that ships is eight-piston. We mention it because the title catches people's eye.
How long does a Brembo GT kit take to arrive?
Six to eight weeks from order. Brembo make these to order at the factory in Italy and that lead time is consistent across the range. If you are working to a specific date, ring 0115 9893488 before placing the order and we will give you the current factory position.
Do I need to upgrade the rear brakes at the same time?
For most builds, no. A front-only upgrade is the normal approach on a 350Z. The front axle does most of the braking work and the standard rear setup is adequate on road and trackday cars. If you are building the car comprehensively and want to go through both axles, ring us and Cameron will talk through what makes sense for how the car is used.
Can I choose the pad compound and disc style?
On the Tarox kits, yes. Disc style (F2000, Sport Japan, C83 or D95) and caliper colour (Black, Red, Blue, Green or Gold) are chosen at order. Pads are Tarox Corsa as standard and pre-fitted. If you want a different compound, ring 0115 9893488 before ordering. On the Brembo kits, disc face (cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted) and caliper colour are chosen at the point of order at no extra cost. Pad compound is set at order; ring us if you have a specific requirement.
What we would actually fit
For a road 350Z that goes to a circuit a few times a year, the Tarox Super Sport 360mm at £3,210 is the obvious starting point. Complete kit in the box, eight-piston sequential caliper, and the description says it often clears OEM wheels. The entry price is lower than the Brembo GT-A, which is unusual for a car with this level of Brembo catalogue cover.
If the car is on 19-inch wheels and you want more caliper under them, the Tarox Grande Sport at £3,610 steps to twelve pistons for £400 more. The 360mm disc size is the same as the Super Sport; the caliper is the wider and more capable unit.
On the Brembo side, Garreth’s view is that the GT-M at £4,295.95 is where the money starts to make sense over the Tarox options. The monobloc construction is a real step and Brembo spec the GT-M for road cars with regular track days. The GT-S at £4,400.74 is close in price to the GT-M and brings billet nickel construction; at that gap Garreth would take the GT-S. The GT-R is the flagship, and the price reflects that.
Ring us on 0115 9893488 with what the car does, what wheels are on it, and where you want to land on budget. Cameron’s part of the business is getting the right kit on before anything is ordered, and for a Brembo kit on a car like this, that conversation is worth having before the six-to-eight-week clock starts.
