Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Mercedes
C-Class and E-Class between them cover a lot of Mercedes history on this site. A W202 built in the 1990s sits in the same product family as a W212 built two decades later, and the brakes needed for each are not remotely the same kit. Work out which generation you actually have before you look at a single price, because every kit below is built for a specific chassis code, not a badge.
Unlike some of the cars we cover, Mercedes big brake kits here come from two brands rather than three: Brembo and Tarox. There is no HiSpec kit currently listed for either the C-Class or the E-Class, so this guide is not going to invent a three way comparison that does not exist. What is genuinely in stock runs from a Tarox conversion at the affordable end up to a Brembo 8 piston kit built specifically for the E55 and E63 AMG.
- 13 C-Class kits and 10 E-Class kits are currently listed, all from Brembo or Tarox, no HiSpec on either model
- Generation matters more than badge: W202, W203 and W204 C-Class kits are three separate listings, not one kit sold three ways
- The Tarox C-Class 340mm listing says 10pot in the title but 8 piston in its own description, we are flagging that rather than repeating it
- The Brembo 380mm 8 piston kit is built specifically for the E55 and E63 AMG, not the wider E-Class range

Two brands, and no HiSpec on this pair
Brembo needs no introduction: OE and motorsport supplier as well as an aftermarket one, and the C-Class and E-Class kits here are conversion kits built around Brembo’s own multi piston calipers, sized to the specific chassis. Tarox build from billet aluminium in Italy and their Mercedes kits are complete conversions instead of a caliper sold on its own.
What is not here is HiSpec, who supply a large share of the kits on our other vehicle guides on this site. Neither the C-Class nor the E-Class currently has a HiSpec kit listed. If that changes we will update this guide, but for now the honest comparison on this pair is Brembo against Tarox, not a three way shootout.
C-Class: W202, W203 and W204, and two real options at each end
The Tarox 340mm kit is the affordable way into a C-Class conversion and it is listed three times over, once each for the W204 saloon, the C204 coupe and the T204 estate, all at the same price. One thing worth flagging before you order: the listing title says 10pot, but Tarox’s own product description for this kit says 8 piston calipers. We would rather tell you that now than have you counting pistons when the box arrives. Confirm the piston count with us if it matters to your build.
At the other end of the C-Class range, Brembo list a 355mm 6 piston front conversion separately for the W202, the W203 and the W204, all at the same price. This is the biggest front kit currently listed for the C-Class and the one we would point a track day car at. Six pistons spread the clamping load over a longer pad than the 340mm Tarox kit above, and the 355mm disc adds meaningful thermal capacity over repeated hard stops.
Between those two, Brembo also list a 332mm 4 piston kit for the W202 and W203, including AMG variants, and a 355mm 2 piece 4 piston kit for the same pair of generations. Both sit on the comparison table below instead of getting their own section here, because the two picks above cover the sensible entry and the sensible ceiling for most C-Class owners. If your car is a C63 AMG and you want to match the rear axle to a front conversion, there is also a dedicated Brembo 345mm 4 piston rear kit for the W204.
E-Class: from the classic W124 up to the AMG-only 380mm
The E-Class range stretches further back than the C-Class one on this site. The Tarox 330mm 6 piston kit is listed for the W124, the classic 1990s E-Class shape, and it is the cheapest kit on this whole guide. If you are running a W124 and want a straightforward conversion without hunting for a bespoke solution, this is it.
For the more modern E-Class, Brembo’s 355mm 6 piston front conversion is listed for the W210, the W211 (excluding 4MATIC) and the W212 E350, again all at the same price. This is the broadest single kit on the E-Class side of this guide, spanning three generations, and it is the sensible mid range pick if your car is not one of the AMG models below.
At the top of the range, Brembo list a 380mm 8 piston conversion specifically for the E55 AMG and the E63 AMG, both W211. This is not a general E-Class kit wearing an AMG badge for marketing; the listing names those two performance models specifically, and it is the largest disc and the most pistons anywhere on this guide. If your E-Class is not an E55 or E63, this is not your kit, whatever the disc size looks like on paper.
Brembo also list a 332mm 4 piston kit and a 355mm 2 piece 4 piston kit for the W210, both AMG and non-AMG variants. Both are on the comparison table below. Neither gets its own section here because the W124, the 355mm 6 piston and the E55/E63 380mm cover the three genuinely different jobs an E-Class owner is likely to be shopping for: classic car, sensible modern upgrade, and AMG track kit.

Common questions
Which Mercedes generations do these kits actually cover?
On the C-Class: W202, W203 and W204, 13 kits in total. On the E-Class: W124, W210, W211 and W212, 10 kits in total. Every kit is listed against a specific chassis code, so check yours before ordering.
Is there a HiSpec kit for the C-Class or E-Class?
Not currently. The kits listed for both models come from Brembo and Tarox only. If that changes we will update this guide instead of leave stale information up.
Why does the Tarox C-Class listing say 10pot when the description says 8 piston?
We noticed the same mismatch and would rather flag it than repeat it. The title carries the older naming, the product description states 8 piston calipers. Confirm the piston count with us before ordering if it matters to your build.
Is the 380mm Brembo kit right for a non-AMG E-Class?
No. That kit is listed specifically for the E55 AMG and E63 AMG, both W211. A non-AMG E-Class should be looking at the 355mm or 332mm options instead.
Do these kits include pads and braided hoses?
The listings do not spell out inclusions the way some of our other vehicle guides do. Confirm what is in the box, including pads and hoses, before you order so there are no surprises when it arrives.
What if my C-Class or E-Class is not one of the chassis codes listed?
Do not guess from the badge. Send us the chassis code, and if you can, the diameter of the disc currently on the car, and we will confirm fitment before anything is built or shipped.
What we would actually fit
For a W204 C-Class used mostly on the road, the Tarox 340mm kit at 2,610.00 pounds inc VAT is the sensible entry point, with the piston count question above settled before you order. If the car sees regular track time, or you are on a W202 or W203 wanting the biggest front kit currently listed, the Brembo 355mm 6 piston conversion at 4,271.40 pounds is the one we would fit.
On the E-Class, a W124 keeps this simple: the Tarox 330mm kit at 2,280.00 pounds is both the cheapest kit on this guide and the only one listed for that generation. On a W210, W211 or W212 that is not an AMG, the Brembo 355mm 6 piston kit at 4,271.40 pounds is the broadest fit across those three generations. If you are running an E55 or E63 AMG specifically, the Brembo 380mm 8 piston kit at 4,255.90 pounds is built for exactly that car and nothing else.
Whichever kit you are looking at, call Garreth or Cameron on 0115 9893488 with your chassis code and current disc size. These are made to order conversions, and five minutes confirming fitment beats a wrong caliper turning up later.
