Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Land Rover Range Rover

Range Rovers end up on this page for a few different reasons. Some are L322 full-size trucks rebuilt around a V8 conversion that now need the brakes to match. Some are Sport models lowered on coilovers and running track evenings where the factory setup starts to show its limits halfway through the afternoon. And some are the newer L405 and L494 Sport variants where the stock brakes feel increasingly marginal as engine modifications accumulate.

The first job on every enquiry is the same: which Range Rover is it. The badge has covered three distinct platforms and the brake options are different on each one. Brembo is the only brand with kits for any Range Rover variant. Neither Tarox nor HiSpec Motorsport list anything for this vehicle. We checked both catalogues before building this guide. The full Range Rover Brembo range is on the site if you want to browse it directly.

  • All Brembo: no Tarox or HiSpec kits for any Range Rover variant
  • Five caliper tiers across the range: GT-A, GT-M, GT-BM, GT-S and GT-R
  • Evoque (L538 2011-19): one kit, 380mm GT-M
  • L322 full-size (2002-12): 380mm GT-A and 405mm GT-M options
  • Range Rover Sport L320 (2005-13): widest choice, GT-M through GT-R
  • L405 and L494 Sport (2013+): GT-BM 412mm is the only front kit currently listed
  • Made to order in Bergamo, Italy, 6-8 weeks from order

The Range Rover L322. The platform you own and the year it was built decides which Brembo caliper tier is available to you.

Which Range Rover do you have

Four platforms are covered on this page and the brake options are not interchangeable between them. The VIN plate on your door jamb gives the model year, and the body code is on the same plate.

Brembo: the only brand with kits for the Range Rover

Tarox and HiSpec Motorsport both cover a wide range of vehicles. Neither lists a kit for any Range Rover variant. We ran a full catalogue check on both brands before building this guide, including all results for “rover” and “range rover,” which return only the old Rover 800, 400, 200, 45 and 25 cars, not Land Rover products.

IT

Brembo

Made at the Brembo factory in Bergamo, Italy. Every GT-family kit for the Range Rover is built to order and typically takes six to eight weeks from order to arrival. The caliper tier ladder on this car runs five steps deep: GT-A (two-piece entry), GT-M (monobloc), GT-BM (four-direction cast with internal fluid passages), GT-S (billet) and GT-R (billet flagship). Which tier is available depends on the platform and year.

?

Tarox and HiSpec

Neither Tarox nor HiSpec Motorsport list a kit for any Range Rover variant, including the Evoque, L322, Range Rover Sport L320, L405 or L494 Sport. We checked both catalogues before publishing. If a kit becomes available from either brand we will add a section here.

Range Rover Evoque L538: 380mm GT-M

One Brembo kit covers the Evoque L538 (2011-2019): the 380mm GT-M front. The GT-M is a six-piston monobloc caliper, machined from a single billet alloy casting with no bolted joint between the caliper halves. The disc is a 380x32mm two-piece floating design.

No GT-A, GT-BM, GT-S or GT-R is listed for the Evoque. The caliper clearance drawing for this kit (Brembo part 1M19047A) is on the product page and shows the minimum spoke gap needed to clear the caliper body. Check it before ordering if you are on aftermarket wheels with narrow spokes. If you want to check whether a different tier has been added since this guide went up, drop us an email or click to open a chat.

  • £4,662.68 inc VAT, complete front kit
  • Fits Range Rover Evoque L538 2011-2019
  • 380x32mm two-piece floating disc
  • Six-piston GT-M monobloc caliper
  • Brembo part 1M19047A: clearance drawing on the product page
  • Made to order in Italy, 6-8 weeks

Range Rover L322 full-size: 380mm GT-A

The GT-A is the entry caliper in Brembo’s GT family for the L322 full-size Range Rover (2002-2012). Two-piece construction means the caliper body is made in two halves bolted together, as opposed to the single-piece monobloc casting used on the GT-M and above. Disc is 380x34mm.

One note on the product data: the listing description for this kit contains the text “eight piston monobloc caliper,” which is boilerplate from a different kit that was not removed. The correct specification for the GT-A on the L322 is the two-piece design. The Kit Tier attribute on the product says GT-A, which is right. What arrives is a GT-A two-piece kit, not a monobloc. If you want the monobloc on the L322, see the 405mm GT-M section below. The clearance drawing (Brembo part 1G19006A) is on the product page.

  • £5,029.40 inc VAT, complete front kit
  • Fits L322 full-size Range Rover 2002-2012
  • 380x34mm two-piece floating disc
  • GT-A two-piece caliper (not a monobloc, despite listing boilerplate)
  • Brembo part 1G19006A: clearance drawing on the product page
  • Made to order in Italy, 6-8 weeks

L322 full-size and Range Rover Sport L320: 405mm GT-M

The 405mm GT-M is available for two platforms: the L322 full-size Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport L320. On the L322 it comes in two year-range SKUs covering 2003-2009 and 2010-2012, both using the same caliper and disc but with different vehicle-specific brackets. On the L320 Sport it covers the full 2005-2013 run.

The GT-M is a six-piston monobloc caliper on a 405x34mm disc. Compared to the GT-A it adds the single-piece casting, which produces a stiffer caliper body under hard braking, and increases the disc diameter by 25mm. The price difference over the GT-A is £104.80. Select the correct vehicle at checkout: the caliper is the same on all three, but the bracket is not interchangeable.

  • £5,134.20 inc VAT per kit, all three
  • 405x34mm two-piece floating disc
  • Six-piston GT-M monobloc caliper
  • L322 2003-2009, L322 2010-2012 and Range Rover Sport L320 2005-2013
  • Same caliper on all three; different bracket per vehicle
  • Made to order in Italy, 6-8 weeks
L322: check the year range before orderingThe L322 GT-M is split into two SKUs at the 2009/2010 boundary. If your L322 was built in 2010, 2011 or 2012, select the 2010-2012 product. If it was built between 2003 and 2009, select that one. The caliper is identical; the bracket is not interchangeable.

L405, Range Rover Sport L320 and L494 Sport: 412mm GT-BM

The GT-BM is Brembo’s most recent caliper technology in the GT family: a four-direction cast design with internal fluid passages. Casting in four directions produces a stiffer caliper body than the two-direction GT-M, and the internal fluid passages replace the external lines on older calipers. Eight pistons, 412x38mm disc.

Three platforms share the base part number 1Q19610A, with a different bracket suffix per vehicle: Range Rover L405 full-size (2013+), Range Rover Sport L320 (2005-2013) and Range Rover Sport L494 (2013+). For the L405 and L494 Sport this is the only front kit Brembo currently lists. The clearance drawing (part 1Q19610A) is on each product page.

  • £6,024.82 inc VAT per kit, all three
  • 412x38mm two-piece floating disc
  • Eight-piston GT-BM caliper, four-direction cast, internal fluid passages
  • Base part 1Q19610A: clearance drawing on each product page
  • L405 full-size 2013+, Range Rover Sport L320 2005-2013, Range Rover Sport L494 2013+
  • Only Brembo front kit currently listed for L405 and L494 Sport
  • Made to order in Italy, 6-8 weeks
Same caliper, different bracketBrembo use the same 1Q19610A caliper and disc across all three platforms. The vehicle-specific part is the mounting bracket. Select the correct vehicle at checkout: L405, L320 Sport or L494 Sport. The brackets are not interchangeable.

Range Rover Sport L320 flagship: 405mm GT-R

The GT-R is the billet caliper at the top of Brembo’s GT range. Six pistons, 405mm disc on the L320 Sport (2005-2013) platform. At £9,424.91 inc VAT it is built for a Sport that has had serious engine work done and needs the brake system to keep pace.

The GT-R caliper body is machined from billet alloy, not cast. The difference from the GT-M and GT-BM shows up under repeated hard stops at high temperature: the billet body holds its geometry more consistently, which keeps pad contact even and pedal feel predictable through a long session. Cameron can confirm spoke clearance on your specific wheel before the kit is built. The clearance drawing for the GT-R caliper is on the product page. If in doubt, ring us on 0115 647 8650 with the wheel make, model and rim width to hand.

  • £9,424.91 inc VAT, complete front kit
  • Fits Range Rover Sport L320 2005-2013
  • 405mm two-piece floating disc
  • Six-piston GT-R billet caliper, machined from solid
  • Clearance drawing on the product page
  • Made to order in Italy, 6-8 weeks

Common questions

Is there a Tarox kit for the Range Rover?

No. Tarox do not list a kit for any Range Rover variant including the Evoque, L322, Sport L320, L405 or L494 Sport. We checked the full Tarox catalogue before building this guide. Searching "rover" and "range rover" returns only the old Rover 800, 400, 200 and smaller cars, which are not Land Rover products. If a kit appears in future we will add a section here.

Is there a HiSpec kit for the Range Rover?

No. HiSpec Motorsport do not list a kit for any Range Rover variant. We checked before publishing. All kits on this page are from Brembo.

I have a 2015 Range Rover Sport. Which kit fits?

A 2015 Sport is the L494 second-generation platform. One Brembo front kit is listed for the L494 Sport: the 412mm GT-BM. No GT-M, GT-S or GT-R is currently listed for this platform. The kit is in the GT-BM section above.

The L322 GT-A listing says "eight piston monobloc." Is that right?

No, that is boilerplate from a different Brembo kit that was left in the product description. The GT-A for the L322 is a two-piece caliper and the Kit Tier attribute on the product says GT-A, which is correct. We have flagged this as a data issue. What arrives is a GT-A two-piece kit. If you want the monobloc on the L322, the 405mm GT-M section covers that.

What is the GT-BM and how is it different from the GT-M?

The GT-BM is Brembo's more recent caliper in the GT family. The GT-M is a two-direction monobloc cast; the GT-BM is cast in four directions, which produces a stiffer caliper body, and the fluid passages run internally rather than along the outside of the caliper. The GT-BM also runs a larger 412x38mm disc versus the 405x34mm on the GT-M, and uses eight pistons versus six. Both are single-piece construction and both are available on the Range Rover, though which tier fits which platform varies.

Do these kits work with the Range Rover's air suspension and terrain control systems?

The kits replace the front caliper and disc while retaining the standard wheel speed sensors and hub geometry, so the electronic systems read normally. Brembo engineer them to be compatible with ABS and traction control. The air suspension, terrain response and other electronic systems are not affected by the caliper change. If you have concerns about a specific configuration, drop us an email and Cameron can advise.

How long does a Brembo kit take to arrive?

Made to order in Italy, typically six to eight weeks from when the order is placed. Garreth can give you a current lead time when you order. There is no stock held in the UK on any Range Rover Brembo kit. Plan ahead if the car has a specific event date.

The GT-BM part number 1Q19610A appears on three different vehicles. Are the kits identical?

The caliper and disc are the same across L320 Sport, L405 full-size and L494 Sport. The difference is the vehicle-specific mounting bracket, which carries a different suffix on each application. Select the correct vehicle at checkout. The brackets are not interchangeable.

What we would actually fit

On an Evoque the decision is made for you: the 380mm GT-M is the only kit listed. It is a proper monobloc six-piston caliper and a fair price for what it is.

On an L322 full-size, the GT-M is Garreth’s pick over the GT-A for most applications. The monobloc costs an extra £104.80 and gives you a 25mm bigger disc. The GT-A is the right choice only if you specifically want the entry-level kit or budget is the deciding factor.

For an L320 Sport the range is the widest of any platform. The GT-M is the sensible starting point for a road-biased build. The GT-BM earns its extra cost if the Sport sees regular track use: the larger disc and eight-piston caliper give it more thermal headroom, and the internal fluid passages make for a cleaner installation. The GT-R is for a Sport that has been seriously built for the circuit: at £9,424.91 it needs to be the right tool for a car that genuinely needs it.

For an L405 or L494 Sport the GT-BM is the only option Brembo currently list. On a heavy luxury SUV the 412mm disc and eight-piston caliper is a well-matched kit.

Ring us on 0115 647 8650 before finalising any order. Have the vehicle year, platform code and the wheel make, model and rim width ready and Cameron will confirm spoke clearance. These kits are made to order in Italy so getting it right before the order is placed saves six to eight weeks.
