Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Audi TT

The TT splits into two distinct generations: the 8N from 1998 to 2006 and the 8J from 2006 to 2014. Tarox list separate Sport kits for each, two different bracket applications with different disc sizes and different prices. The 8N kit runs a 323mm disc; the 8J runs 320mm. That 3mm difference is not a meaningful step in performance, it reflects the bracket geometry changing between generations. HiSpec list their kits across both generations without the split, which simplifies the order for anyone not running a Tarox Sport.

One constraint runs across the whole range: every kit on this page needs at least 17-inch wheels. Base-spec 8Ns came on 16-inch alloys and those will not clear anything here. If the car is already on 17s or wider, the full picture is below. This page covers the kits Garreth and Cameron would actually fit to the car, using the two brands we stock for big brake conversions: Tarox in northern Italy and HiSpec Motorsport in Dartford. The full Audi TT brake kit range is on the site if you want to compare everything at once.

  • Every kit on this page needs at least 17-inch wheels; standard 16-inch 8N alloys will not clear anything here
  • Tarox list separate 8N and 8J kits because the brackets differ between generations, not because the performance tier changes
  • HiSpec list their range generically for the TT, covering both generations from one set of kits
  • Tarox kits include pads and braided hoses already fitted; HiSpec price theirs separately so you choose the compound
  • The HiSpec 360mm Monster 4 currently lists at £1,635 inc VAT, below the 335mm Monster 4 at £1,650. That is not a misprint and is worth knowing before you compare.

Two brands, two ways of building a brake kit

Both companies machine their own calipers from billet aluminium and build each kit for the specific car. Where they differ is in how the box arrives.

IT

Tarox

Made at the Tarox factory in northern Italy. Calipers are CNC machined from European billet alloy and hand assembled, discs are heat treated and hand balanced to 0.05mm. Every TT kit arrives with vehicle-specific braided hoses and Corsa pads already fitted, and Tarox state full compatibility with ABS and ESP. Caliper colours: black, red, blue, green or gold.

UK

HiSpec Motorsport

Machined in Dartford from 6082 T6 billet aluminium. Every kit is made to order in up to 28 working days, with calipers available in black, red, blue, gold or silver. Pads and braided hoses are priced separately, so you pick the compound that matches how the car is used.

Wheel sizes across the range

The table below covers every kit on this page. The HiSpec figures come from the published wheel size data across the catalogue. For the Tarox Sport kits the minimum wheel is confirmed at 17 inches. The Tarox 330mm Super Sport has no published wheel size from Tarox for this specific TT application, so that one goes through Cameron before ordering.

Diameter is not the whole storyA 17-inch wheel can still foul a caliper at the spokes. Give Cameron the wheel make, model and offset alongside the diameter and he will check the spoke clearance before anything gets ordered. Tarox publish a clearance template at tarox.com/en/tarox-brake-kit-fitting-guide/ if you want to measure first.

HiSpec 325mm Billet 4: the entry kit

The Billet 4 is HiSpec’s road caliper: four pistons, twin-lip seals, built for hard road use and track days. On the TT it runs a 325mm disc and clears a 17-inch wheel, which is the starting point for the whole range. The upgrade over the standard sliding-pin OEM calipers is immediate on the road and the price leaves room to add a quality pad compound and a set of braided hoses without pushing into Monster territory.

For a standard 8N or 8J on 17-inch alloys that sees occasional track days and regular spirited road driving, this is where Garreth would start the conversation. Get the wheel clearance confirmed with Cameron first and the rest of the order is straightforward.

  • £1,470.00 inc VAT
  • Clears 17-inch wheels
  • 325mm two-piece floating disc
  • Billet 4 piston caliper, 6082 T6 billet aluminium
  • Pads and hoses priced separately, your choice of compound
  • Made to order in Dartford, up to 28 working days, five caliper colours

Tarox Sport: the complete 17-inch kit

The Tarox Sport is listed as two separate applications: 8N and 8J. The 8N kit runs a 323mm disc and costs £1,748.98 inc VAT. The 8J kit runs a 320mm disc and costs £2,000.89 inc VAT. The 8J is the slightly smaller disc at the higher price, which reflects the different bracket geometry and lower fitment volume of that generation. Both use the same six-piston caliper and both clear 17-inch wheels.

The case for Tarox at this level is the box. Braided hoses matched to the car and Corsa pads are already fitted when the kit arrives. Add equivalent parts to a HiSpec Billet 4 order and the cost gap closes considerably. If the car goes on track and the buyer wants everything sorted in one delivery, the Tarox Sport is the pick.

  • 8N: £1,748.98 inc VAT / 8J: £2,000.89 inc VAT
  • Both clear 17-inch wheels
  • 8N: 323mm disc / 8J: 320mm disc, six-piston caliper
  • Vehicle-specific braided hoses and Corsa pads included and fitted
  • Black, red, blue, green or gold caliper finish
  • ABS and ESP compatible

HiSpec 335mm Monster 4 and Monster 6

The Monster family carries a longer pad and more clamp force across a wider contact patch than the Billet 4. The 335mm disc runs 10mm up on the Billet 4 and still clears a 17-inch wheel, which makes this the natural step for anyone who already has the Billet 4 or is building for more consistent track use.

The Monster 4 or the Monster 6 is a real choice here. On a TT used for sprint events and occasional track days, the Monster 4 at £1,650 is Cameron’s pick at this disc size. If the car is in regular circuit use and pads are coming off warm, the Monster 6 at £1,773 adds clamping force for a £123 premium. Same disc, same wheel requirement, same build lead time.

  • Monster 4: £1,650.00 inc VAT / Monster 6: £1,773.00 inc VAT
  • Both clear 17-inch wheels
  • 335mm two-piece floating disc
  • Pads and hoses priced separately, your choice of compound
  • Made to order in Dartford, up to 28 working days, five caliper colours

Tarox 330mm Super Sport: the 8J flagship

The Super Sport is the top Tarox kit listed for the TT, and it is listed for the 8J only. The disc is 330mm and the caliper is the B34GT with eight sequential pistons. One labelling note: the product title says “10pot”. The B34GT runs eight pistons, which is confirmed in the kit description and on the Tarox website. The ten-piston title has not been corrected yet and we are flagging it. The brake performance is not affected.

The minimum wheel size for this specific TT application has no confirmed published figure from Tarox. Give Cameron a call with the wheel make, size and offset before ordering and he will run it through Tarox. The hoses and Corsa pads are in the box and already fitted, so everything else is sorted when it arrives.

  • £2,365.30 inc VAT (8J only)
  • 330mm disc, B34GT caliper, 8 sequential pistons
  • Minimum wheel size: call us to confirm for your specific wheels
  • Vehicle-specific braided hoses and Corsa pads included and fitted
  • Caliper colours: black, red, blue, green or gold
  • ABS and ESP compatible

HiSpec 360mm Monster 4 and Monster 6: the 18-inch step

Moving to 360mm takes the disc up 25mm on the 335mm kits and requires an 18-inch wheel. On a TT already running wider aftermarket rims, these are the next move. One pricing point to read before ordering: the 360mm Monster 4 currently lists at £1,635 inc VAT. The 335mm Monster 4 lists at £1,650. The bigger disc is the cheaper kit. Garreth’s read is that the pricing has not tracked correctly across the range; ring us before committing and we will confirm the current figure.

The Monster 6 at 360mm sits at £1,863.00 and behaves as expected: more clamping force, the same disc, the same 18-inch requirement. For a TT on 18-inch aftermarket rims that sees regular track sessions, this is Garreth’s HiSpec pick.

  • Monster 4: £1,635.00 inc VAT (currently lists below the 335mm Monster 4; see above)
  • Monster 6: £1,863.00 inc VAT
  • Both require 18-inch wheels
  • 360mm two-piece floating disc
  • Pads and hoses priced separately, your choice of compound

If the car is on 18s

The Monster 4 and Monster 6 at 360mm in the section above are the first 18-inch step. The Mega Monster below uses a six-piston design with 70% more pad surface area than the Monster caliper and sits at the top of the HiSpec TT range. It also requires 18-inch clearance. Check the spoke depth before ordering any of these three.

What is actually in each box

The headline prices sit further apart than the finished builds do. HiSpec price their kits without pads or braided hoses; you choose the compound to match how the car is used. Tarox include both, pads already fitted. Add pads and hoses to a HiSpec kit and the gap narrows, so compare the full build cost before deciding on price alone.

Prices include VAT and were correct on 20 August 2026. (*) The HiSpec 360mm Monster 4 currently lists below the 335mm Monster 4 despite being the larger disc; confirm the current price with us before ordering. The Tarox 8J Sport costs more than the 8N Sport despite running a 3mm smaller disc because the 8J brackets are a different application with lower fitment volume.

Common questions

Do I order a different kit for the 8N and the 8J?

For Tarox Sport kits, yes. Tarox list the 8N and 8J separately because the brackets differ between generations, so make sure you are ordering the right application. The Tarox 330mm Super Sport is listed for the 8J only. HiSpec list their full range, from the Billet 4 to the Mega Monster, generically for the Audi TT without a generation split. If you are unsure which generation your car is, the 8N ran from 1998 to 2006 and the 8J from 2006 to 2014.

The Tarox 330mm Super Sport says 10pot in the title. Is that right?

The title has not been corrected yet. The caliper on this kit is the B34GT, which runs eight sequential pistons. That is stated in the kit description and confirmed on the Tarox website. The performance spec is correct; the title is a labelling issue we are working to have fixed. Never take a piston count from a title on our Super Sport range.

The 360mm Monster 4 is cheaper than the 335mm. Is something wrong with the price?

The current live pricing is £1,635 for the 360mm Monster 4 and £1,650 for the 335mm Monster 4. The larger disc is the cheaper kit, which does not follow the usual size progression. Ring us before ordering and we will confirm the current figure. We are flagging this to HiSpec but have not received a correction yet.

What wheel size do I need for the Tarox 330mm Super Sport?

There is no confirmed published minimum wheel figure from Tarox for this kit on the TT. Give Cameron a call with the wheel make, model, size and offset and he will run it through Tarox before anything gets ordered. Spoke clearance is as important as diameter on calipers this size, so have the full wheel spec ready.

How long does delivery take and will any of these work with my ABS?

HiSpec kits are made to order in Dartford and take up to 28 working days. Tarox kits are built in Italy and lead times vary through the year, so ask when you order. Tarox state full ABS and ESP compatibility on all TT kits. For HiSpec, tell us the exact car and spec and we will confirm ABS compatibility before the build goes in.

What we would actually fit

On a standard 8N or 8J on 17-inch alloys that sees road driving and the occasional sprint day, Garreth’s starting point is the HiSpec 325mm Billet 4 with a mid-range road pad and a set of HiSpec braided hoses. It keeps the total cost reasonable and gives a real upgrade over the OEM setup. Step up to the 335mm Monster 4 if the car goes on track regularly, or the Tarox Sport if you want pads and hoses sorted in one box.

For a modified TT on 18-inch rims, the 360mm Monster 6 is the pick. The Mega Monster is for cars where the brakes are a genuine priority and the rest of the build already reflects that. The Tarox 330mm Super Sport is the 8J flagship and the most expensive kit here; it makes sense when the rest of the car is already at that level.

If you are between two of these or want the wheel clearance confirmed for any kit, ring us on 0115 9893488. Wheel-clearance questions are Cameron’s corner of the business, so have the wheel make, size and offset ready and you will get a straight answer.
