Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Audi A6

The first question on any A6 brake enquiry is whether it has a 2.0t, a 3.0t, a 3.2 or a 4.2. Brembo catalogue separate bracket numbers for those engine families even within the same generation, because the front hub carrier geometry differs between them. The year alone is not enough.

The Audi A6 runs from the C5 (1997 to 2004) through to the C8 (2019 onwards). Brembo cover all four generations in the 2026 GT catalogue. Tarox cover the C5 only. HiSpec Motorsport do not list a kit for the A6 in their current catalogue.

On the C5, Tarox list an 8-piston 330mm front kit for all engine variants. The Brembo on the C5 is a 332mm 4-piston specific to the 2.8 V6 engine. From the C6 onwards the range is Brembo only, split by engine code within each generation. All Brembo kits are made to order at the factory in Italy at six to eight weeks lead time.

  • Tarox: C5 only (all engine variants), 330mm 8-piston front kit, 17-inch alloys minimum
  • Brembo 2.8: C5 with 2.8 V6 engine only, 332mm 4-piston
  • C6 (2005 to 2011): Brembo only, 380mm 6-piston GT-M and GT-S and GT-R, engine code determines bracket
  • C7 (2012 to 2018): Brembo only, 380mm 6-piston GT-M, GT-BM and GT-R, engine code determines bracket
  • C8 (2019 onwards): Brembo GT-BM 405mm 6-piston, largest disc in the A6 range
  • Six to eight weeks, made to order in Italy (Brembo)

Audi A6 C7 on track. Brembo catalogue four generations of the A6 with front brake kits split by engine code. Tarox cover the C5 generation only. HiSpec do not list a kit for the A6.
Engine code determines the bracket, not the year aloneBrembo use separate bracket part numbers for the 3.2l and the 3.0t/4.2l on the C6, and separate part numbers for the 2.0t and 3.0t on the C7. The caliper body and disc are the same between those variants; the bracket differs because the front hub carrier geometry differs between engine families. Cameron will confirm the engine code before anything goes on order. Ring him on 0115 9893488 before placing any order on this page.

Brembo and Tarox on the Audi A6

Tarox cover the A6 at the C5 generation only. The Tarox Super Sport fits all C5 engine variants at 330mm with an 8-piston billet aluminium caliper. There is no Tarox listing for the C6, C7 or C8. We have confirmed this through the Tarox catalogue and the A6 vehicle category on our site. HiSpec Motorsport do not list a kit for the A6 in any generation.

Brembo cover the A6 across all four generations in the 2026 GT catalogue. The GT-M (monobloc cast aluminium, 6-piston) is the C6 and C7 entry point at 380mm. The GT-S (billet aluminium, nickel finish, 6-piston) steps up on the C6. The GT-BM (4D internal-passage, 6-piston) is the mid-tier on C7 and the sole option on C8. The GT-R (hard anodised billet, 6-piston) is the flagship for C6 and C7.

The GT-BM caliper is worth a note. On a GT-M or GT-S, brake fluid runs through an external bridge connecting the two caliper halves. On the GT-BM, Brembo machine the fluid channels directly into the caliper body itself. No bridge. The structure is stiffer for the same piston surface area and the unsprung weight is lower. Brembo introduced this technology on the C7 A6 listing; the C6 does not carry it.

Tarox and HiSpec Motorsport

Tarox list a front kit for the A6 at the C5 generation only. The Super Sport 330mm 8-piston covers all C5 engine variants on 17-inch or larger alloys. HiSpec Motorsport do not list a kit for the A6 in any generation. We have confirmed this through both catalogues and the A6 vehicle category on this site. If cover is added for C6 onwards, this page will be updated.

Wheel clearance

Brembo publish a caliper clearance drawing for most GT kits and link to it from each product page. The drawing gives three measurements: A (caliper height above the disc face), B (caliper depth to the wheel mounting surface) and C (caliper width). Those three figures determine whether a wheel fits, not the disc diameter alone.

The A6 runs on 17-inch alloys at the C5 base trim up to 20-inch on C7 S-Line and C8 Sport packs. Two kits at the same 380mm disc size can have entirely different A, B and C values if they use different caliper bodies. The GT-M and GT-BM are not the same caliper body: their clearance envelopes differ even at the same disc size.

Clearance drawings are on each product pageThe wheel-size module does not carry Brembo GT kit clearance data. If you are running aftermarket wheels or want to check clearance against your current alloys before committing, ring Cameron on 0115 9893488 with the wheel make, model and offset. He will work through the A, B and C dimensions from the Brembo drawing before anything is ordered.

C5 (1997 to 2004): Tarox 330mm and Brembo 2.8 332mm

The C5 A6 (1997 to 2004) is the only generation where Tarox have a front brake kit listed. The Tarox Super Sport covers all C5 engine variants at 330mm with an 8-piston billet aluminium caliper at £2,425.30 inc VAT. Minimum wheel size is 17 inch. The caliper is an 8-piston unit: the product title carries the number 10 but the Tarox Super Sport caliper on the A6 C5 has 8 pistons. Cross-drilled or slotted disc to order.

The Brembo for the C5 is a 332mm 4-piston kit at £3,719.68 inc VAT. This listing is specific to the 2.8 V6 engine only. C5 cars with a 2.7T, 3.0 or 4.2 do not have a Brembo front kit listed: the Tarox is the only catalogue option for those engine variants on the C5.

Ring Cameron on 0115 9893488 before ordering either kit. Engine code and wheel diameter need confirming first. Brembo kits are six to eight weeks made to order; confirm Tarox lead time when you call.

  • Tarox 330mm: £2,425.30 inc VAT, all C5 models, 8-piston Super Sport caliper, 17-inch alloys minimum
  • Brembo 332mm: £3,719.68 inc VAT, C5 with 2.8 V6 engine only, 4-piston
  • Cross-drilled or slotted disc on both kits
  • Brembo: six to eight weeks made to order; confirm Tarox lead time when calling

C6 (2005 to 2011): GT-M 380mm entry

The C6 A6 (2005 to 2011) uses a 380mm disc across the full Brembo GT range, from the GT-M entry through to the GT-R flagship. Two part numbers at each level: one for the 3.0t and 4.2l hub, one for the 3.2l. Both use the same caliper body and the same 380mm disc. The bracket is the only part that differs between them.

The GT-M is a monobloc cast aluminium body: one solid casting with no caliper bridge to flex under load. The C6 GT-M 380mm 6-piston front kit is £4,662.68 inc VAT for either engine variant. It is a step up from the C5 Brembo in every respect: larger disc, more pistons, monobloc construction.

Confirm the engine code with Cameron on 0115 9893488 before ordering. Six to eight weeks, made to order.

  • £4,662.68 inc VAT for both 3.0t/4.2l and 3.2l variants
  • 380mm two-piece disc, 6-piston GT-M monobloc cast aluminium caliper
  • Two bracket part numbers: engine code determines which applies
  • Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price either way
  • Made to order: six to eight weeks

C6: GT-S 380mm

The GT-S is the next step on the C6. Same 380mm disc, same 6-piston layout, but the caliper body is billet aluminium with a nickel finish. The difference from the GT-M is in the material: the GT-M caliper starts from a casting; the GT-S starts from solid bar stock. Brembo carry the billet approach across from their competition caliper work.

The C6 GT-S front kit is £4,767.47 inc VAT for either engine variant, the same bracket split applies. The step from GT-M to GT-S is £104.79. The caliper body and disc are identical in size; the construction and the surface finish are not.

  • £4,767.47 inc VAT for both 3.0t/4.2l and 3.2l variants
  • 380mm two-piece disc, 6-piston GT-S billet aluminium caliper, nickel finish
  • Same engine-code bracket split as the GT-M
  • Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price either way
  • Made to order: six to eight weeks

C7 (2012 to 2018): GT-M 380mm and GT-BM 380mm

The C7 A6 (2012 to 2018) uses a front hub carrier that differs from the C6. Brembo catalogue the C7 with two engine splits: 2.0t and 3.0t. The 3.2l engine did not carry over into the C7 A6 line. There are no C7 listings for 3.2l, 4.2l or any diesel variant.

The GT-M 380mm is the C7 entry point at £4,662.68 inc VAT, matching the C6 GT-M price. Two part numbers again: 2.0t bracket and 3.0t bracket. Same caliper body, same 380mm disc, different mounting bracket for each hub geometry. Confirm the engine code before ordering.

  • £4,662.68 inc VAT for both 2.0t and 3.0t variants
  • 380mm two-piece disc, 6-piston GT-M monobloc cast aluminium caliper
  • Two bracket part numbers: engine code determines which applies
  • Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price either way
  • Made to order: six to eight weeks
C7 also has GT-BM and GT-R optionsThe GT-BM 380mm with 4D internal-passage technology and the GT-R hard anodised billet are also listed for the C7. See the sections below.

C7: GT-BM 380mm (4D internal-passage)

The C7 is the first A6 generation listed with the GT-BM. On a GT-M, brake fluid runs through an external bridge connecting the two caliper halves. On the GT-BM, Brembo machine the fluid channels directly into the caliper body itself. No bridge. Brembo call this 4D technology: the passages are part of the monobloc casting.

The C7 GT-BM front kit is £4,767.47 inc VAT for either engine variant, the same 380mm disc, the same engine-code bracket split. The step from GT-M to GT-BM is £104.79 and gives a stiffer caliper body with lower unsprung weight in the same outer envelope. The C6 does not have a GT-BM listing: the GT-BM was applied to the C7 A6 in the 2026 Brembo catalogue.

Ring Cameron on 0115 9893488 to confirm the engine code before ordering.

  • £4,767.47 inc VAT for both 2.0t and 3.0t variants
  • 380mm two-piece disc, 6-piston GT-BM with 4D internal-passage fluid channels
  • Same engine-code bracket split as GT-M
  • Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price either way
  • Made to order: six to eight weeks

GT-R flagship for C6 and C7: £8,906.26

The GT-R sits at the top of the A6 range. One price for C6 and C7, for all covered engine variants: £8,906.26 inc VAT. The caliper is machined from billet aluminium and hard anodised, the surface treatment Brembo use on their competition calipers. The disc is 380mm, matching the GT-M, GT-S and GT-BM on those same generations.

Four part numbers cover C6 3.0t/4.2l, C6 3.2l, C7 2.0t and C7 3.0t. The caliper body and disc are consistent across all four. The bracket changes for each generation and engine variant. Cameron will confirm the correct part number from the engine code when you call on 0115 9893488.

Garreth’s view on the GT-R: it is for the owner who wants the definitive finish and the hard anodised surface, and wants to know there is nothing above it in the A6 catalogue. For most owners on track, the GT-BM on C7 or the GT-S on C6 delivers the braking performance. The GT-R gives that and the competition caliper treatment on top.

  • £8,906.26 inc VAT for all listed A6 variants (C6 3.0t/4.2l, C6 3.2l, C7 2.0t, C7 3.0t)
  • 380mm two-piece disc, 6-piston GT-R billet aluminium, hard anodised finish
  • Engine code and generation determine which bracket applies
  • Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price either way
  • Made to order: six to eight weeks

C8 (2019 onwards): GT-BM 405mm

The C8 A6 (2019 onwards) gets a single Brembo listing: the GT-BM at 405mm, 25mm larger than the 380mm discs across the C5 to C7 range. One product, at £5,396.15 inc VAT. The caliper is the same 6-piston GT-BM 4D internal-passage body as on the C7, but the disc is larger and the bracket is specific to the C8 front hub carrier.

The GT-R is not listed for the C8 A6 in the 2026 Brembo catalogue. The GT-BM 405mm is the top option for this generation. If a GT-R listing is added for the C8, this page will be updated.

Ring Cameron on 0115 9893488 before ordering to confirm the build year and check the current lead time from the factory. Six to eight weeks, made to order.

  • £5,396.15 inc VAT
  • 405mm two-piece disc, 6-piston GT-BM with 4D internal-passage technology
  • C8 A6 (2019 onwards) front hub bracket only
  • Cross-drilled or Type 3 slotted disc, same price either way
  • Made to order: six to eight weeks

Common questions

Does HiSpec make a kit for the Audi A6?

HiSpec Motorsport do not list a big brake kit for the Audi A6 in their current catalogue. We have confirmed this against the HiSpec catalogue and the A6 vehicle category on our site. Every Brembo and Tarox option on this page was verified against both sources before publishing.

Does Tarox cover the C6, C7 or C8?

Tarox list a front brake kit for the Audi A6 at the C5 generation only. There are no Tarox listings for C6, C7 or C8. We have checked the Tarox catalogue. If Tarox add cover for later generations, this page will be updated. From the C6 onwards, every kit on this page is Brembo.

Why does the engine code matter for the bracket?

The front hub carrier geometry on the Audi A6 differs between engine families within the same generation. On the C6, the 3.0t and 4.2l share a hub geometry that differs from the 3.2l. On the C7, the 2.0t hub differs from the 3.0t. Brembo design the caliper bracket to bolt onto a specific hub face. The caliper body and disc are the same part across engine variants; only the bracket changes. Ordering the wrong bracket means the kit will not mount. Cameron confirms the engine code before anything goes on order.

The Tarox product title says 10-pot. Does it have 10 pistons?

No. The Tarox Super Sport caliper on the Audi A6 C5 has 8 pistons. The product title carries the number 10 but the caliper is an 8-piston unit. This is a Tarox product naming convention on some older listings. The specification in the product description is the one to rely on.

Is the GT-BM available for the C6?

No. The GT-BM 4D internal-passage caliper is listed for the C7 and C8 A6 in the 2026 Brembo catalogue. The C6 does not carry a GT-BM listing. The highest specification available for the C6 is the GT-R hard anodised billet. If you have a C6 and want billet construction, the GT-S billet nickel is the step-up from GT-M before the GT-R.

How long does a Brembo kit take to arrive?

Six to eight weeks from order is Brembo's current lead time for made-to-order GT kits built in Italy. The precise figure can move through the year. Ask when you call on 0115 9893488 and Cameron will give you the current picture before you commit. Nothing on this page is shelf stock: each kit is built to the caliper colour and disc face chosen at order.

What we would actually fit

For a C5, the Tarox 330mm 8-piston at £2,425.30 covers all engine variants and is the practical choice. If the car has the 2.8 V6 and the owner specifically wants the Brembo name, the 332mm 4-piston at £3,719.68 is there.

For a C6, Garreth’s recommendation is the GT-M 380mm at £4,662.68 for a car used on road. If the car sees regular trackdays and the owner wants billet construction, the GT-S at £4,767.47 is worth the step. The difference is £104.79 and it gets you the billet caliper and nickel finish. The GT-R is for the owner who wants the competition caliper treatment and is not looking for a reason to stop.

For a C7, the GT-BM 380mm at £4,767.47 is the pick. The 4D internal-passage caliper is the current specification on the C7 and it costs the same as the GT-S did on the C6. The step from GT-M to GT-BM on the C7 is £104.79 and Garreth would take it.

For a C8, there is one option: the GT-BM 405mm at £5,396.15. The larger disc suits the C8’s weight and it is the best Brembo offer the A6 catalogue currently carries for this generation.

Ring Cameron on 0115 9893488 before ordering anything on this page. Engine code confirmation is not optional: the wrong bracket will not mount. He will also run the clearance check from the Brembo drawing against your current wheels before the order goes in.
