Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Audi A4
The Audi A4 on this page covers four generations: B5 (1994 to 2001), B6, B7 and B8 (through to 2015). HiSpec do not split their kits by generation at all. Every HiSpec listing here just says “Audi A4”, with no B5, B6, B7 or B8 printed anywhere in the title or the description, and the 325mm Billet 4 doubles up as the S4 kit as well. Tarox go the other way, and further than the other Audi we cover: their A4 range only reaches the B5. One 308mm kit, listed five times for five different B5 engines at the same price, and nothing at all for B6, B7 or B8.
Worth saying plainly before anything else: if your A4 is a B6, B7 or B8 and you want a Tarox kit, we do not currently have one listed for that car. HiSpec is the only stocked option for those generations. If that is not what you were hoping to hear, ring us and we will find out from Tarox whether a kit exists that has not made it onto our catalogue yet. The full A4 range is on the site if you want to see everything in one place.
- Every kit here converts the front axle: calipers, two-piece discs, brackets and fitting hardware sized for the A4
- HiSpec make no generation split at all, every A4 listing fits the same, and the 325mm Billet 4 also covers the S4
- Tarox only cover the B5 here: one 308mm kit across five engine listings, nothing currently listed for B6, B7 or B8
- Nothing on this page needs more than a 19 inch wheel

Two brands, two ways of building a brake kit, and one is thinner here than the other
Both companies machine their own calipers from billet aluminium and build each kit for the specific car. On the A4 the two brands do not cover the same ground: HiSpec’s line runs across every generation with seven kit and disc combinations to choose from, Tarox’s line is a single 308mm kit for the B5 only.
Tarox
Made at the Tarox factory in northern Italy. Calipers CNC machined from European billet alloy and hand assembled, every one individually tested. Discs are heat treated, CNC faced and hand balanced to 0.05mm. The A4 kit arrives with vehicle-specific braided hoses and Corsa pads already fitted, and states full ABS and ESP compatibility. Listed for the B5 only, across five engine variants.
HiSpec Motorsport
Machined in Dartford from aerospace grade billet aluminium. Every A4 kit we stock lists EBC pads and Dot 5.1 brake fluid in the box already. Braided hoses come with the two Monster kits; on the Billet 4 and the Mega Monster kits the hose line is marked optional in the kit contents, so we will confirm that with you before the order goes in. Calipers finish in black, red, blue, gold or silver.
One external link worth bookmarking for Tarox: their wheel clearance template is the definitive check for spoke depth once you have the minimum diameter sorted.
The number that decides it: your wheel size
A bigger disc means a bigger minimum wheel, and on the A4 the range runs from 16 inch at the smallest to 19 inch at the top. That smallest figure belongs to the Tarox kit, not a HiSpec one, so the complete pads-and-hoses kit actually asks less of your wheels than the entry HiSpec Billet 4 above it. HiSpec publish the wheel size for every kit from their own catalogue. The Tarox figure was looked up directly on tarox.co.uk against the KM code in our A4 SKU.
| Kit | Disc | Smallest wheel |
|---|---|---|
| Tarox 308mm Sport (B5, all five engine listings) | 308mm | 16 inch |
| HiSpec 325mm Billet 4 (also listed for the S4) | 325mm | 17 inch |
| HiSpec 335mm Monster 4 | 335mm | 17 inch |
| HiSpec 335mm Monster 6 | 335mm | 17 inch |
| HiSpec 360mm Monster 4 | 360mm | 18 inch |
| HiSpec 360mm Monster 6 | 360mm | 18 inch |

| HiSpec 380mm Mega Monster | 380mm | 19 inch |
HiSpec 325mm Billet 4: the entry point, and the S4 kit too
The smallest kit HiSpec list for the A4, and it is also listed against the S4, so if you run the hot version this is the same Billet 4 kit. The Billet 4 is HiSpec’s most popular caliper: four pistons machined from aerospace grade billet aluminium with integral dust seals to keep road grit out. On a 325mm two-piece disc it clears a 17 inch wheel.
The kit contents list EBC Standard Road pads and Dot 5.1 fluid as part of the box. Braided hoses are marked optional on this listing, not included outright, so tell us if you want them fitted when you order and we will add them to the build.
- £1,470.00 inc VAT
- Clears 17 inch wheels
- 325mm two-piece disc
- EBC pads and Dot 5.1 fluid included; braided hoses optional, ask us
- Made to order in up to 28 working days in Dartford

Step up to the Monster caliper and the kit contents change in your favour: both the Monster 4 and Monster 6 list EBC Redstuff pads, Dot 5.1 fluid and two braided hoses as standard, not optional. Both sit on a 335mm two-piece disc and clear a 17 inch wheel, the same as the Billet 4 above.
The choice between four pot and six pot comes down to use. For a road A4 that sees the odd track day, the Monster 4 is what Cameron fits: strong pedal feel, easy pad sourcing, and a caliper that holds up to repeated heat cycles. The Monster 6 rewards a car making more power or seeing proper track use.
- Monster 4 at £1,650.00 inc VAT; Monster 6 at £1,740.00 inc VAT
- Both clear 17 inch wheels
- 335mm two-piece discs
- EBC Redstuff pads, Dot 5.1 fluid and braided hoses all included as standard
- Made to order in up to 28 working days
Tarox 308mm Sport: the only Tarox kit on this page, and B5 only
The one Tarox kit in our A4 catalogue, and the smallest wheel requirement on this whole page at 16 inch, smaller than either HiSpec kit above it. Six-piston billet caliper on a 308mm two-piece disc balanced to 0.05mm, Corsa pads already fitted and braided hoses in the box. It is listed five times, once per B5 engine: 1.8T Turbo, 2.4, 2.5 TDI, 2.6 and 2.8 V6, all at the same price.
This kit exists for the B5 and nothing else. If your A4 is a B6, B7 or B8, this listing is not for your car, whatever the disc size might suggest. Pick your engine below, or ring us with the rest of the range on the next section if 1.8T or 2.8 V6 is not what you are running.
- £2,092.09 inc VAT, complete with pads and braided hoses fitted
- Clears 16 inch wheels, the smallest on this page
- 308mm two-piece disc, balanced to 0.05mm
- Six-piston B32 billet caliper, hand assembled in Italy
- B5 only (1994 to 2001); five engine listings at the same price

Move up to 360mm and both Monster calipers need an 18 inch wheel, a genuine step in leverage and heat dissipation over the 335mm kits. Same kit contents as the 335mm pair: EBC Redstuff pads, Dot 5.1 fluid and braided hoses all included.
Worth saying plainly: the 360mm Monster 4 is currently priced at £1,635.00 inc VAT, which is £15 less than the smaller 335mm Monster 4 above it at £1,650.00. That is how the two kits are currently priced on the catalogue, not a typo or an offer on our part, and we are not going to recommend the smaller, dearer kit when the bigger one costs less. If your A4 is already on 18 inch wheels, the 360mm Monster 4 is the one to look at first, on price as well as spec.
- Monster 4 at £1,635.00 inc VAT; Monster 6 at £1,863.00 inc VAT
- Both clear 18 inch wheels
- 360mm two-piece discs
- EBC Redstuff pads, Dot 5.1 fluid and braided hoses all included as standard
- The 360mm Monster 4 currently undercuts the smaller 335mm Monster 4
HiSpec Mega Monster: the flagship, and the bigger disc is the cheaper one again
HiSpec’s biggest caliper, a six-piston flagship with a 152mm pad, on 360mm or 380mm two-piece discs. EBC pads and Dot 5.1 fluid are listed as standard; the hose line is marked optional on both Mega Monster listings, the same as the Billet 4 above, so confirm hoses with us when you order.
Same pattern as the Monster 4 pair: the 380mm Mega Monster is priced at £2,159.69 inc VAT, which undercuts the smaller 360mm Mega Monster at £2,196.85. The 380mm also clears a bigger 19 inch wheel against the 360mm’s 18 inch. For a car that can take the bigger disc, the 380mm is the better buy on both spec and price, and we would say so plainly instead of selling the smaller kit because it looks like the safer step up.
- 360mm at £2,196.85 inc VAT; 380mm at £2,159.69 inc VAT
- 360mm clears 18 inch wheels; 380mm clears 19 inch wheels
- EBC pads and Dot 5.1 fluid included; braided hoses optional, ask us
- 152mm pad, HiSpec's largest caliper
- The 380mm currently undercuts the smaller 360mm

More Tarox engine fitments on the B5

What is actually in each box
On most vehicles in this series HiSpec price pads and hoses separately. On the A4 listings themselves that is not quite the story: pads and fluid are in the box on every kit here, and hoses are included as standard on the two Monster kits, only marked optional on the Billet 4 and the Mega Monster. We are describing what these specific A4 listings say, not the general pattern.
| In the box | HiSpec (A4 listings) | Tarox |
|---|---|---|
| Calipers | Billet 4, Monster or Mega Monster, billet aluminium | Sport 6pot, billet alloy, hand assembled in Italy |
| Discs | Two-piece, with mounting bells | Two-piece, balanced to 0.05mm |
| Brackets and hardware | Included | Included |
| Pads | EBC, upgradeable, included | Corsa pads, fitted |
| Brake fluid | Dot 5.1, included | Not itemised on the listing |
| Braided hoses | Included on Monster 4/6; optional on Billet 4 and Mega Monster | Included |
| Caliper finish | Black, red, blue, gold or silver | Black, red, blue, green or gold anodised |
| Built in | Dartford, UK, up to 28 working days | Northern Italy |

Prices include VAT and were correct on 16 August 2026. Two pairs run backwards on this page: the 360mm Monster 4 undercuts the smaller 335mm Monster 4, and the 380mm Mega Monster undercuts the smaller 360mm Mega Monster. Both are genuine, we checked twice, and we are not quietly steering anyone toward the dearer of the two.
Common questions
Does a HiSpec kit fit every generation of A4?
Every HiSpec listing we stock for the A4 just says Audi A4, with no B5, B6, B7 or B8 split anywhere in the title or description, and one of them also covers the S4. That is how HiSpec have chosen to list this fitment. We would still confirm your generation with you on the phone before the kit ships, since a generic listing is not quite the same guarantee as a stated fitment for your exact car.
Can I get a Tarox kit for a B6, B7 or B8 A4?
Not currently in our catalogue. The only Tarox kit we stock for the A4 is the 308mm Sport, and it is listed for the B5 only, across five engine variants. If you have a newer A4 and want a Tarox kit specifically, ring us on 0115 9893488 and we will check with Tarox whether a kit exists that has not made it onto our site yet.
Which Tarox engine listing do I need?
The 308mm Sport kit is listed five times for the B5: 1.8T Turbo, 2.4, 2.5 TDI, 2.6 and 2.8 V6, all at the same price and the same spec. Pick the listing that matches your engine. If you are not sure which one applies, tell us the engine code and we will match it for you.
Why does the bigger disc sometimes cost less?
On this page it happens twice: the 360mm Monster 4 is priced below the smaller 335mm Monster 4, and the 380mm Mega Monster is priced below the smaller 360mm Mega Monster. Both are correct as currently listed on our catalogue, not typos, and in both cases we would point you at the bigger, cheaper kit, not the smaller one sitting above it in price.
Are pads and hoses included on the HiSpec kits?
On the specific kits we stock for the A4, EBC pads and Dot 5.1 brake fluid are listed as standard on every HiSpec kit. Braided hoses come included on the Monster 4 and Monster 6; on the Billet 4 and the Mega Monster the hose line is marked optional in the kit contents, so tell us if you want them fitted and we will add them before the kit is built.
What we would actually fit
For a road A4 on 17s, the 335mm Monster 4 is where Garreth’s money goes over the Billet 4 above it. The price gap is real, but pads, fluid and hoses are all in the box on the Monster 4, where the Billet 4 leaves the hoses as an optional extra. If your A4 is already on 18s, skip the 335mm pair entirely and go straight to the 360mm Monster 4, it clears the bigger wheel and currently costs less than the smaller kit.
At the top of the range the same logic applies twice over: the 380mm Mega Monster beats the 360mm on price and on wheel clearance, so that is the one we would spec for a serious track A4 over the smaller kit above it. If you want the complete pads-and-hoses-in-the-box package and your A4 is a B5, the Tarox 308mm Sport is the pick, and it asks less of your wheels than any HiSpec kit on this page. For B6, B7 and B8 owners, HiSpec is currently the only stocked route to a big brake kit for this car.
Ring us on 0115 9893488 with the generation, the engine if you are chasing the Tarox kit, and the current wheel size. Confirming your A4’s generation against a generic HiSpec listing is a thirty second question, and checking spoke clearance on a specific wheel is Cameron’s side of the business. Most calls like this are done inside five minutes.
