Our Number Plate Checker Is Live: Find The Big Brake Kits That Fit Your Car
New on BigBrakes4U
You can now put your registration into the yellow plate at the top of any page on BigBrakes4U, and we will show you the big brake kits we have for that car. No more working through the car list and the kit sizes to find the ones for yours.
Garreth tested it with one of his old cars, the silver 2004 Impreza WRX STI on this page, OV04 VJF. It came back with 24 kits.
- Works from the plate box at the top of every page
- Covers big brake kits from Hi Spec, Tarox and Brembo, whichever are listed for your car
- OV04 VJF, a 2004 Impreza WRX STI, returned 24 kits
- Plate not found? Pick the make and model from a list

How the number plate checker works
Type the registration
Use the yellow plate at the top of the page, or the Find parts for your car page. Spaces do not matter.
We read the car
The plate is checked against the official DVSA vehicle record, and we match the car to the generation our parts are listed for.
See what fits
The parts come back grouped by type, with a count and a price on every one, so you can compare the lot on one page.
Keep browsing
Your car stays set while you look round the site, and product pages tell you whether that part fits it.

We tried it on Garreth's old Impreza
OV04 VJF is one of Garreth's old cars, a 2004 Impreza WRX STI. Cameron typed the plate into the checker to see what it would make of it.
The car came back as a Subaru Impreza, 2000 to 2007, which is right: the 2004 STI is the second generation car. The parts come back one row per type, four at a time, with arrows to see the rest.

What it found for OV04 VJF
OV04 VJF came back as a Subaru Impreza, and the checker listed 24 big brake kits, fifteen from Hi Spec and nine from Tarox. They start with the Hi Spec R132-4 300mm kit at £1,059.50 and go up to the Hi Spec 378mm R152-6 kit at £1,999.50, with the Tarox six pot kits from £2,045.
Our brake kits are listed by model rather than by generation, so an Impreza plate brings back every Impreza kit. Each kit title says which Impreza it is built for: WRX, Turbo, Turbo 2000 or Sport. That matters on a car like OV04 VJF, because the STI already left the factory with Brembo four pots at the front. So for an STI, Cameron will check the kit against your car before we send it.
Garreth’s view: on a road car that sees the odd track day, the Hi Spec 335mm Monster 6 at £1,773 is where he would start. If it is going on track every month, the bigger 360mm kits are worth the extra.
| Kit | Price inc VAT | Disc size |
|---|---|---|
| Hi Spec R132-4, WRX | £1,059.50 | 300mm |
| Hi Spec R132-4, WRX | £1,195.50 | 335mm |
| Hi Spec Monster 4, WRX | £1,365 | 315mm |
| Hi Spec Monster 6, WRX | £1,773 | 335mm |
| Hi Spec Monster 6, WRX | £1,863 | 360mm |
| Hi Spec R152-6, WRX | £1,999.50 | 378mm |
| Tarox six pot, WRX | £2,078.89 | 306mm |
| Tarox six pot, WRX | £2,045 | 315mm |
On your phone
The checker works the same on a phone. Type the plate, tap Find my car, and each type of part is one row you swipe through, with the picture and the price big enough to read.
If you are stood next to the car in a car park wondering what fits it, that is the quickest way to find out.

Your garage, guides and our other shops
Press Save to my garage beside the car and it stays set across all three of our shops. Under the parts, Guides about your car lists the fitting and buying guides we have written for it. The whole garage is explained here: Your garage and kit bag.
If one of our other shops has parts for your car as well, the results page says so under your car, with a link straight to them.
The same checker is live on our other two sites. On GSM Performance it finds coilovers, springs, anti-roll bars and steering wheel boss kits. On SportSeats4U it finds the seat brackets, subframes and runners for your car.
Questions
Do you keep my registration?
The plate is checked with DVSA to identify the car. A record of the lookup is kept for up to 13 months to help us improve the checker, and it is not linked to your name, email or account. If you save the car to your garage while signed in, the plate is kept with it until you remove the car.
What if my plate is not found?
Use “Or pick your car from a list” under the plate and choose the make and model yourself. If nothing comes up for your car, tell us what you are after and we will come back to you, or ring us on 0115 9893488.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The Find parts for your car page works the same on a phone. Each type of part is one row you swipe through, and the pictures and prices are big enough to read.
What is the difference between "fits" and "should fit"?
“Fits” means the part is listed for your car’s generation. “Should fit, we will confirm before dispatch” means it is listed for the model in general, so we check it against your car before it goes out. Either way, if you are unsure, ring 0115 9893488 with the plate.
Not sure which kit is yours?
Ring us with the plate
Give Garreth or Cameron your registration and what you use the car for, and we will tell you which kit to buy and check it fits before it goes out.
