Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Fiat Brava
Three of the six Tarox kits listed for the Fiat Brava carry ‘HGT’ in the listing title. That label is not a grade: it is a fitment designation. The HGT ran a different front upright from the standard car, and Tarox machine those kits specifically to those dimensions. Order an HGT kit for a standard Brava and the brackets will not align. Before wheel size, the first question is which of these two cars you have.
HiSpec have no kit for the Brava, so this guide covers Tarox only: six kits, Italian billet construction, braided hoses and Corsa pads included in every box. The full Fiat Brava range is on the site if you want to browse it directly.
- Six front conversion kits, all Tarox: calipers, two piece floating discs, mounting brackets, braided hoses and Corsa pads in every box
- HGT kits (305mm, 330mm, 340mm) are machined for the HGT front upright; standard kits (284mm, 310mm, 318mm) fit the non-HGT Brava
- Wheel size runs from ask us on the 284mm Sport Compact up to 18 inch on the 340mm Super Sport
- All kits are compatible with ABS and ESP

Tarox: the only kit maker for this car
HiSpec have not listed a kit for the Fiat Brava. The only complete big brake option for this car is Tarox, which is not a bad place to be: the factory is in northern Italy, calipers are CNC machined from European billet alloy and hand assembled, discs are heat treated and balanced to 0.05mm, and every kit comes with braided hoses and Corsa pads already fitted.
Tarox
Made at the Tarox factory in northern Italy. Calipers are CNC machined from European billet alloy, hand assembled and individually tested. Discs are heat treated, CNC faced and balanced to 0.05mm. Kits arrive complete with vehicle-specific braided hoses and Corsa pads pre-installed. ABS and ESP compatible on every Brava kit.
HiSpec: not listed for this car
HiSpec Motorsport in Dartford make kits for a large part of the car catalogue, but they have not published a kit for the Fiat Brava. If that changes, we will update this page. For now, Tarox is the route.
Wheel sizes and the variant question
Tarox publish a minimum wheel size for every Brava kit. The 284mm Sport Compact is the exception: no minimum was listed on the Tarox page when we checked, and Tarox’s own guidance is to confirm clearance on the specific car and wheel before ordering. For all other kits, the figures are in the table below. Note that for HGT kits the variant question comes before the wheel question: if the kit is labelled HGT, it will only fit an HGT.
| Kit | Disc | Variant | Smallest wheel |
|---|---|---|---|
| 284mm Sport Compact | 284 x 21mm | Standard Brava | Ask us |
| 305mm Sport | 305 x 26mm | HGT only | 16 inch |
| 310mm Sport | 310 x 26mm | Standard Brava | 16 inch |
| 318mm Sport | 318 x 26mm | Standard Brava | 17 inch |
| 330mm Sport | 330 x 26mm | HGT only | 17 inch |
| 340mm Super Sport | 340 x 26mm | HGT only | 18 inch |
284mm Sport Compact: the entry kit for a standard Brava
This is Tarox’s Sport Compact format rather than the full Sport kit. The difference is in the caliper and the disc. The Sport Compact uses the B280/B30 caliper and a single-piece cast disc at 284x21mm; every other kit on this page uses the B32 and a two-piece floating disc at 26mm. For a standard Brava on road duty, the argument for this kit is that it is the entry point into billet calipers and it arrives complete: hoses and Corsa pads in the box. The caveat is wheel size. Tarox’s own page was not listing a minimum figure when we last checked, so Cameron will confirm clearance before this one goes to build.
- £1,997.16 inc VAT
- 284 x 21mm single-piece cast disc
- B280/B30 caliper, 6 piston
- Braided hoses and Corsa pads included and fitted
- Standard Brava only (not HGT)
305mm HGT Sport and 310mm Sport: the 16 inch options
If you are on 16 inch wheels, these are the two options and the answer is simple: HGT owners order the 305mm, standard Brava owners order the 310mm. Both use the B32 caliper and a 26mm two-piece floating disc, and both clear 16 inch wheels. Worth noting on price: the 305mm HGT kit at £1,860.66 costs less than the 310mm at £2,094. They are machined for different front uprights, so they are not interchangeable, but if you are deciding between them on cost you are deciding the wrong thing. Check your car first.
- 305mm HGT at £1,860.66, 310mm at £2,094.00, both inc VAT
- Both clear 16 inch wheels
- 26mm thick two-piece floating discs on both
- B32 6-piston caliper on both
- Braided hoses and Corsa pads included in both
318mm Sport: better value than the 310mm if you are on 17s
This is where the price ladder does something worth knowing. The 318mm Sport at £2,020 is cheaper than the 310mm kit at £2,094, despite a bigger disc and the same B32 caliper and 26mm two-piece construction. Garreth’s view: if the standard Brava is already on 17 inch wheels, take the 318mm, no second thoughts. You get more disc for less money and there is no reason to look at the 310mm unless wheels are a constraint.
- £2,020.00 inc VAT
- 318 x 26mm two-piece floating disc
- B32 6-piston caliper
- Cheaper than the smaller 310mm kit
- Needs 17 inch wheels
- Braided hoses and Corsa pads included and fitted
330mm HGT Sport: the 17 inch step-up for an HGT
The 305mm HGT kit clears 16 inch. Once an HGT is on 17s, this is the option. Same B32 caliper as the 305mm, with 25mm more disc diameter, and Tarox confirm it clears 17 inch. The gap over the 305mm is around £420, and you are getting a larger disc diameter and the two-piece construction that the 305mm already shares. For an HGT on modified wheels doing track evenings, this is the sensible progression.
- £2,280.00 inc VAT
- 330 x 26mm two-piece floating disc
- B32 6-piston caliper
- HGT models only
- Needs 17 inch wheels
- Braided hoses and Corsa pads included and fitted
340mm HGT Super Sport: the flagship
The B34GT/B360 runs eight pistons, sized sequentially from the leading edge of the pad to the trailing edge, so each piston loads an equal area of pad at once. That is the pedal feel difference at the top of the range: consistent pressure, even wear. One point on the name: the listing title says 10 pot, which is the B34 designation that Tarox used to run. The current caliper is the B34GT/B360 with eight pistons, and that is what the description and the spec sheet both confirm. Tarox’s own page for this kit gives 18 inch as the minimum wheel size, so this kit is for an HGT that has already left standard wheels behind.
- £2,610.00 inc VAT
- 340 x 26mm two-piece floating disc, balanced to 0.05mm
- B34GT/B360 sequential 8-piston caliper (listing says 10 pot, spec says 8)
- HGT models only
- Needs 18 inch wheels
- Braided hoses and Corsa pads included and fitted
What is in the box
Unlike some other vehicles in this series, there is no guessing about box contents on the Brava. Every Tarox kit for this car includes braided hoses and Corsa pads, already fitted at the factory. The 284mm Sport Compact lists its pads as pre-installed, the Sport and Super Sport kits all confirm hoses and pads in the kit description. You are not pricing up extras on top of a headline number.

* The 310mm Sport at £2,094.00 costs more than the larger 318mm Sport at £2,020.00. Both use the same B32 caliper and 26mm disc; neither is the wrong kit for the right car. Flag noted.

Common questions
How do I know if my Brava is the HGT?
The HGT arrived in 1997 with the 148bhp 1.8 16V engine (Pratola Serra unit). If your car has the 1.4, 1.6 or 1.9 TDI engine, you have the standard car. The chassis plate will confirm the variant. If you are unsure, ring us on 0115 9893488 before ordering and Cameron will check the fitment with Tarox.
Can I fit an HGT kit to a standard Brava?
No. The HGT kits are machined to the HGT front upright dimensions. The brackets will not align on a standard car. Tarox build these to specific geometry, so the difference is not minor. Order the correct variant for your car.
Why does the 310mm cost more than the 318mm?
It does, and we have not found a clean explanation from Tarox for it. Both kits use the B32 caliper and 26mm discs; the pricing is what the listings show. If the standard Brava is on 17 inch wheels, take the 318mm: more disc, lower price, same caliper.
What does the title "10 pot" mean on the 340mm Super Sport?
It is a legacy naming issue. Tarox's older B34 caliper design ran ten pistons. The current B34GT/B360 runs eight pistons, sized sequentially. The listing title has not been updated to match. The description and spec sheet both confirm eight pistons, and that is what arrives in the box.
How long before the kit arrives?
Tarox build to order at the factory in Italy. Lead times vary through the year; ask when you order and we will give you the current picture. Ring us on 0115 9893488 and we will get a date from Tarox before the order goes in.
What we would actually fit
On a standard Brava on original wheels, Garreth would start the conversation with the 284mm Sport Compact and get Cameron to confirm wheel clearance first. It is the entry into billet calipers and the whole Tarox package arrives in the box. If the standard car is already on 17s, skip straight to the 318mm and take the lower price.
For an HGT, the 305mm Sport on standard wheels and the 330mm once wider rubber goes on. The 340mm Super Sport is for an HGT that is doing track work and has already committed to 18 inch wheels. That is a specific car and a specific use case; if it fits yours, it is the right kit.
If you are not sure which kit suits the car, ring us on 0115 9893488. Tell us which Brava you have (HGT or not), the wheels you run, and what the car does at weekends. Cameron can check the fitment and give you a straight answer, usually in about five minutes.
