Our Top Recommended Big Brake Upgrade Kits For Your Ford Granada MK2
Look through the HiSpec range for the Ford Granada MK2 and you will find two different 285mm kits. Same Billet 4 four-piston caliper. Same 15 inch wheel clearance. The difference is in the disc: one is a solid single-piece casting at £785, the other a two-piece floating disc at £1,189. Which makes sense is down to how often the car goes on circuit.
There is no Tarox coverage for the Granada MK2 in this catalogue, so this is a HiSpec-only guide. Seven kits in total, covering 15 to 17 inch wheels, from £785 to £1,773. The full Ford Granada MK2 range is on the site if you want to browse it raw. This page works through the disc construction decision first, then goes through each kit in turn.
- Five Billet 4 kits from 285mm to 325mm, for 15 to 17 inch wheels
- Two Monster caliper kits at 335mm for 17 inch, for heavily modified cars
- Two different 285mm kits at the same wheel size: the 1P vs 2P decision in one comparison
- Pads and braided hoses are extra on HISC- kits; confirm box contents before ordering Monster kits
- All kits are front axle upgrades; ring us if you need a rear match

HiSpec Motorsport: the only option for the Granada MK2
Tarox do not list a kit for the Ford Granada MK2 in their current catalogue. The range on this page is HiSpec only. That covers the car from a modest 285mm Billet 4 upgrade right up to the Monster caliper, and there is enough spread in the range to suit most uses and budgets.
HiSpec Motorsport
Machined in Dartford from 6082 T6 billet aluminium. The Billet 4 is a four-piston caliper with external boots to keep road grime out of the seals, used across road and club sport applications. Kits are made to order in up to 28 working days, with the caliper finished in your choice of black, red, blue, gold or silver. The Monster 4 and Monster 6 use larger caliper bodies with more piston area, for heavily modified cars on bigger power.
Sierra, Granada Mk3 and Scorpio kits are different
Six more HISC- kits appear in the Granada section of the catalogue but are titled for the Ford Sierra, Ford Granada Mk3 and Ford Scorpio. These are different cars on different hubs and are not listed on this page. If you own a Sierra or a Mk3 Granada, contact us and we will check the correct fitment for your car. Everything on this page is for the Granada MK2 specifically.
The disc decision: 1P or 2P
The most useful thing to understand before buying a kit for the Granada MK2 is what separates the two 285mm options. Both use the Billet 4 four-piston caliper. Both clear a 15 inch wheel. The difference is in how the disc is built.
HISC-021 is a 285x28mm solid single-piece cast disc. HISC-023 is a 285x24mm two-piece floating disc: a billet alloy bell bonded to a steel rotor ring by bobbins, which lets the two components expand independently under heat. On a car that goes to circuit regularly, the floating disc handles heat cycles better because each component can grow at its own rate without stressing the other. On a road car with the occasional sprint day, the solid 1P disc is simpler, lighter and around £403 cheaper. Garreth would pick the 1P for a road car and the 2P for anything that goes on track more than twice a year.
Wheel sizes: real numbers
A larger disc needs more wheel diameter to clear the caliper. The figures below come from HiSpec’s published minimum statements across the catalogue: a figure published for one car holds for the same kit on any other car, because the caliper envelope does not change between vehicles.
| Kit | Disc | Minimum wheel |
|---|---|---|
| HISC-021: 285mm Billet 4 1P | 285 x 28mm | 15 inch |
| HISC-022: 296mm Billet 4 1P | 296 x 28mm | 15 inch |
| HISC-023: 285mm Billet 4 2P | 285 x 24mm | 15 inch |
| HISC-024: 300mm Billet 4 2P | 300 x 28mm | 16 inch |
| HISC-025: 325mm Billet 4 2P | 325 x 28mm | 17 inch |
| Monster 4: 335mm | 335mm | 17 inch |
| Monster 6: 335mm | 335mm | 17 inch |
HiSpec 285mm Billet 4 1P: the entry kit on 15 inch wheels
This is where the Granada MK2 range starts. The HISC-021 puts a 285x28mm solid cast disc and the Billet 4 four-piston caliper on the front axle, and it clears a 15 inch wheel. For a road car, this is the honest answer to the question: proper four-piston calipers, a good disc, brackets and hardware included, pads and hoses priced separately. There is a lot of car from £785.
If the car ever goes on track, the 285mm 2P at £1,189 covers the same wheel size with a better disc for sustained heat. But if the brief is road use and the occasional sprint day, this kit does the job without the two-piece premium.
- £785.44 inc VAT
- Clears 15 inch wheels
- 285 x 28mm single-piece cast disc
- Four-piston Billet 4 caliper, five caliper colours
- Brackets and hardware included; pads and hoses priced separately
HiSpec 296mm Billet 4 1P: more disc at 15 inch
The 296mm sits £31.80 above the 285mm and still clears a 15 inch wheel. The disc is 296x28mm, single-piece cast, the same Billet 4 caliper throughout. That is 11mm more swept area over HISC-021 for a small premium, still on the same wheel size. The extra disc is all you get: same construction, same caliper, same wheel.
For a car on 15 inch wheels that wants the largest solid disc available in the range, this is the kit. If the wheels are 16 inch, the 300mm 2P at £1,233.29 gives a floating disc alongside the diameter step, and that is usually the better choice at that wheel size.
- £817.24 inc VAT
- Clears 15 inch wheels
- 296 x 28mm single-piece cast disc
- Four-piston Billet 4 caliper, five caliper colours
- Brackets and hardware included; pads and hoses priced separately
HiSpec 285mm Billet 4 2P: the track pick at 15 inch
This is the 2P counterpart to the 285mm 1P. The disc is 285x24mm, two-piece floating construction, same Billet 4 caliper, same 15 inch wheel clearance. The price is £1,188.53, which puts it £403 above HISC-021. That gap is the floating disc.
On a car that goes on track with any regularity, Garreth would take this kit. The two-piece disc handles the heat cycles that build up across a track day better than the solid disc does, and the caliper is identical to the cheaper option, so all of the extra cost goes into the disc. On a road car, the 1P at £785 is the right call. On a track car on 15 inch wheels, this is the one.
- £1,188.53 inc VAT
- Clears 15 inch wheels
- 285 x 24mm two-piece floating disc
- Four-piston Billet 4 caliper, five caliper colours
- Brackets and hardware included; pads and hoses priced separately
HiSpec 300mm Billet 4 2P: the 16 inch two-piece
The 300mm 2P is the step up for cars on 16 inch wheels. The disc is 300x28mm, two-piece floating construction. At £1,233.29, it sits £44.76 above the 285mm 2P for 15mm more disc and the move to 16 inch clearance. If the car is already on 16 inch wheels and going to track days, this is the natural choice: a proper floating disc at the right wheel size.
There is no 1P option at 16 inch in this range, so the choice at this wheel size is 300mm 2P or stepping up to 325mm 2P. The 325mm needs 17 inch wheels, so unless the car is on 17s, the 300mm is the kit.
- £1,233.29 inc VAT
- Clears 16 inch wheels
- 300 x 28mm two-piece floating disc
- Four-piston Billet 4 caliper, five caliper colours
- Brackets and hardware included; pads and hoses priced separately
HiSpec 325mm Billet 4 2P: the top Billet 4 kit at 17 inch
The 325mm is the largest Billet 4 kit in the Granada MK2 range. It needs 17 inch wheels and runs a 325x28mm two-piece floating disc. At £1,320.18, it is the pick for a car built for circuit use on 17 inch wheels. The caliper is still the Billet 4 at this size; for heavily modified cars that want more piston area, the Monster kits below cover the same 17 inch clearance on a 335mm disc.
If you are on 17 inch wheels and the car is used for track days or club motorsport, this is where the Billet 4 range ends. Ring us on 0115 9893488 and Cameron can confirm the wheel clearance on whatever you are running before the kit goes to build.
- £1,320.18 inc VAT
- Requires 17 inch wheels
- 325 x 28mm two-piece floating disc
- Four-piston Billet 4 caliper, five caliper colours
- Brackets and hardware included; pads and hoses priced separately
Monster 4 and Monster 6 at 335mm: for heavily modified cars
The Monster caliper kits use a larger caliper body than the Billet 4 with more piston area, suited to a Granada MK2 that has been substantially modified in power or weight. Both run a 335mm disc and both clear 17 inch wheels. The Monster 4 is a four-piston caliper at £1,650.00 inc VAT. The Monster 6 moves to six pistons at £1,773.00 inc VAT. The extra piston count gives more even pad contact across the disc face, which matters on a car that is going to be on track regularly under high loads.
The Monster kits are old-format HiSpec listings. Box contents are described in the product listings as calipers and two-piece discs; confirm with us whether pads and hoses are included before ordering. Ring us on 0115 9893488 and Garreth can go through whether the Monster caliper is the right call for what the car is, or whether the Billet 4 at 325mm is enough.
What is actually in each box
The HISC- Billet 4 kits ship without pads or braided hoses. HiSpec price these separately so you can choose the compound for the use: a street compound for road use, something more aggressive for a car that goes on track. We will quote the full build with pads and hoses alongside the kit price so you know the total before anything is ordered.

Common questions
Is there a Tarox option for the Ford Granada MK2?
No. Tarox do not currently list a kit for the Granada MK2 in their standard catalogue. The seven kits on this page are all from HiSpec. If a Tarox listing appears in future, we will add a guide section.
Why are there two 285mm kits with the same wheel clearance?
They are different disc constructions. HISC-021 is a 285x28mm solid single-piece cast disc. HISC-023 is a 285x24mm two-piece floating disc where the alloy bell and the steel ring are separate components joined by bobbins. Both clear 15 inch wheels and both use the Billet 4 four-piston caliper. The 1P costs £785.44, the 2P costs £1,188.53. The extra £403 goes entirely into the disc. For a road car the 1P is the call; for a track car the 2P is.
What are the Sierra, Granada Mk3 and Scorpio listings in this category?
Six more HISC- kits appear in the same section of the catalogue but are titled for the Ford Sierra, the Ford Granada Mk3 and the Ford Scorpio. These are different cars on different front hubs and are not interchangeable with the Granada MK2 kits on this page. If you own a Sierra, a Mk3 Granada or a Scorpio, contact us and we will check the right fitment for your car.
How long before my kit arrives?
HISC- Billet 4 kits are made to order in Dartford; allow up to 28 working days from order confirmation. Pads and braided hoses can be added to the same order. We will give you a current lead time when you call, as it can shift through the year. Lead times for the Monster caliper kits are available on request.
Will any of these kits affect ABS?
The HISC- kits are fitted to the original hubs and use a disc that allows the ABS ring to be retained in most fitments. HiSpec can confirm ABS compatibility for your specific car when the order goes through. Contact us before ordering if ABS retention is important to your build.
What we would actually fit
On a road car with the occasional sprint day, the 285mm 1P at £785.44 is where Garreth would start. Same caliper as every other kit on this page, 15 inch wheel clearance, no two-piece premium. Add pads and hoses and you have a complete front conversion at a sensible price.
For a car that goes on track regularly, the answer changes with the wheel size. On 15 inch wheels, the 285mm 2P at £1,188.53 is worth the extra £403 for the floating disc. On 16 inch wheels, the 300mm 2P at £1,233.29 is the pick. On 17 inch wheels, the 325mm 2P at £1,320.18 is the right call, and if the car is heavily modified the Monster 4 at £1,650.00 gives you more piston area on the same disc size. If you are not sure which kit suits the car, ring us on 0115 9893488. Cameron handles wheel clearance and fitment and will work it out with you before anything is ordered.
